It seems the I Ching works in retrospect to a revealed situation. This is even so with the story of the Zhou Kings. It wasn't until after King wu's victory against King Di Xin Zhou of Shang that the Sequence revealed the the rise of the Zhou dynasty.
I would like explore the potential of the King wen sequence to produce positive results that don't come in uncertain terms.Of course the text is cryptic but the Interpreter surely should know how to make sense of them or else divining would not be of much use to that interpreter.:bows:

I'm going to set up a target, which ill do the moment after I post this because it's already written down.I am going to write three words down that describe the thing I am thinking of and hang it on my south wall. When everyone who wants to guess it is through I'll post it. If anyone can guess correctly you win I :bows:to you as divination champion.

What I am thinking is not the relevant issue. The relevant issue is that there is a target.
You might as well say why would anyone want to guess anything using the I Ching or Divination:)
If you don't think you can do it why say anything?

You know practioners of the mantic arts exalted in games like this. One of the reputed authors of the ling Ch'i Ching wich is another divination method similar to the I ching was a guy named Tung-Fang Shuo.According to Ralf Sawyer "Tung-Fang Shuo was a shadowy Han dynasty figure who earned a reputation for his wit, repartee irascible behavior, and skill in guessing the nature of concealed objects." Tung-Fang Shuo Might have appreciated an experiment like this, but I guess it's not good enough for you hu?
As soon as someone gets into it the people in the spiritual forums the net over all the sudden revert to the "this mystic stuff is stupid attitude"Like they have another reason to be in mystic/magic chat room.Like My name is chad I flip hamburgers at McDonald's why would you even think I cared about mystic stuff just because I'm on a mystic stuff site.

I remember talking about this kind of thing with my husband - who's pretty much sceptical - and dreaming up an experiment with 'target' we could do. The idea was to have half a dozen pictures, get him to choose one, and ask Yi to describe which one so I could identify it. Really neat experimental design, I thought.

I ran the idea past Yi first, and got a very rude answer. I'm trying to remember, now, what that was - what I mainly remember is the all-encompassing embarrassment. I think it might have been 29.1... one of those 'how deep can you dig yourself into this hole, then?' answers.

I've been wondering lately about the power of the intention behind the reading - part of 'retracing the oracle consultation to its source' to tap into the 'fundamental, ever-flowing constancy' that carries through the interpretation and beyond. It doesn't have to be gargantuan life-purpose stuff all the time; I find that light, playful and experimental works beautifully, though I know some don't like it. Point-proving, though, at least for me - never a success.

Jerzoe-Are you proposing that people on this forum cast the coins in order to divine your target?

that would be like a needle in the haystack,. OR like the elephant and the blind men...we would all have our interpretation and none would look the same NOR look to be an apt description of your target.
a more truthful test of divination skill would be if you ask a question about your target to the Yi, and then YOU cast the coins and convey your response here. I bet many people could come close to describing your target.

It seems to act in the superficial at times as well as the contemplative for me too just because its clever. Its more fun that way.One time I was searching for something in my basement and i pulled up Through a crack watching/peering through a crack. favorable for the chastity of a woman.
So I read about the line and thought about what it could actually mean, and what ended up working was perching myself up on the edge of the sofa and looking through a hole in the wall where a light switch used to be into the back room of the basement much like a kid or a young girl would spy on her parents and their company. And I caught sight of my target within the frame of sight;):D.Could be coincidence for all I know though.

How do you want me to cast?

i dont necessarily want you to cast, but if you want your target divined by the yi jing, it should be illustrated to us here by the yijing. your question could be one about your target, and to do your cast, how? with three pennies I suppose. I could divine your response.

otherwise...as i said...do you know the story of the blind men and the elephanT?
each blind man approached the elephant and began to divine with their fingers in order to describe what the elephant was. One feeling of the tusks, said it was a smooth sword with sharpedged point, and the next feeling of the leg said it was like a tree stump, the next feeling of the ear, said it was a floppy soft wing, and so on

even hte reading you give will not avoid the blind men and elephant issue, but it could well be deciphered, by you.

I belive that blind intuition is a valid tool, but the accuracy is skewed by the filter of the conciousness of the one diving.

Just for kicks, i asked the YI ching what your target was and I got 56.4. you moved something in your home, your heart feels out of place so this object may be close to your heart. Perhaps the three words you hung about, describe your thoughts about being outof place. it feels out of place there on the south wall, and it could be something you're dissatisfied about, possibly friendship or a relationshhip. Maybe your target is a representation of your wanting to move, litterally or otherwise, you're not happy where you are in life. but circumstnces imply that you feel overwhlmed by things, unable to move, too set in your idea. and if you have what you need, but it doenst seem enough, the situation has felt stagnant
