Greetings,

I recently applied for a job that I really want. I already interviewed & submitted my background check authorization form.

I'm a little concerned that my bankruptcy 5yrs ago, outstanding parking ticket that is now in a collection agency, and, tax troubles will hinder me from getting the job.

I asked Yi:

"I"ve already interviewed with CA and submitted my background check. What is the likliehood of me getting the job?"

Answer:

Hex# 58, 6 at 3, 9 at 5, and 6 at 6 turning into Hex# 14

I'm somewhat confused by all the changing lines in 58. The lines don't sound like I'll get the job, however, 14 sounds pretty good!!!

Can you all help me with this please?

110110(58)
001011(53)- changing lines at 3,5,6
-------- XOR
111101(14)

My opinions:
(1) The key is at line 5 of 58.
You do have an 'ace card' with you.
But do not let your past experience (chapter13) bother you too much. It could be your ace card! who know? Some real smart bosses look for real substance within, with all the miseries you have gone through?

(2) Changing lines at 3,5 and 6 give 53.
This is about your journey.
Line 3 could be about the Chapter 13? - a bitter place.
Line 5 is about you NOW. Nothing can stop you now if the time is right.
Line 6?
Few months down the road, i hope you will experience this passing phase of life experience. Drop your old values, your passing miseries etc etc 'accumulated' during a period of 36 in life. You have gone thru this phase of life. Start a new chapter in life.

Dear Yly2pg1 (Yly2pg1),

I can always count on you....always. As you probably gathered this situation is a little too close to my heart to see beyond the ordinary.

So, it appears that I may be in a place on my journey that I've paid some dues, gained some understanding, and acquired some skills. Now I just need to spiritually drop my "old beliefs" about myself and how I relate to the world.

Any thoughts on how I should prepare myself?

Hello all,

I have a question about multiple changing lines within a Hex. I'm gathering from Yly2pg1's help above that the changing lines 3, 5, and 6 represent my past, present and future respectively.

Can you always apply this logic when faced with multiple changing lines or does it just depend?

thanks,

[ Strawdogs, I'm reposting this response that I gave a month or so ago since I think it applies to your question above. ]

I think there's 3 main ways you can look at contradictory lines, generally.

- They represent different situations, different people, or separate sub-aspects of a situation and/or the answer from the Yi.

Try to distinguish both "threads" in the situation and react to each appropriately and somewhat independently.

- Aspects of each line are "blended" in the situation; you can think of this sort of like a musical chord (and thanks to Bruce for that particular metaphor :) )

To cope effectively, your reaction to the situation might also be a "blend" of factors. Kind of like good parenting: sometimes a little "tough love" is what's called for. But that doesn't mean there isn't love.

- The moving lines build a relating hex; the relationship between the main hex and relating hex is the main message, so don't worry overmuch about the particulars of the moving lines.

Base your reaction on considering the overall relationship between the hexes and the message that relationship carries, rather than any particular lines.

FYI, I use all three styles of interpretation at different time, depending on the question/situation and what I think the "message" of the reading is.

Of course, people also apply other logical organizations such as chronological order, parts of the body (line 1 is feet, line 2 is legs, etc), and social strata (line 4 is minister, 5 is ruler, 6 is sage, etc).

Overall I think it is fair to say "it just depends." Or, more precisely, the logic of the answer provided by (often seemingly contradictory) changing lines depends on the question, the circumstances, what the Yi is trying to say to you, and your preferred interpretation style(s).

- Jeff
