On those relationships which need reform and hexagram 50

Good morning everybody,

I have recently got hexagram 50 unchanging or as the resulting hex in my readings.
Both times I was thinking about some relationship (with family member, a friend, etc.) which it's current form was annoying me as the result of accumulative small but important not-likable factors.
The questions were in the direction of: "What should I do with this rel?"

That's interesting, I have heard that many point out at 50 as a turn out in castings about relationships, or the contexts of relationships. I could rather easily imagine a new relationship resonating with this hex, but for old ones... well not clear to me.

So if you have any experience with this, or have any interpretations which in your opinion make sense, please share it here.

Thanks to you all,

There are lots of people shaping decisions, and so if we want to predict correctly, we have to pay attention to everybody who is trying to shape the outcome, not just the people at the pinnacle of the decision-making pyramid.

I see Hex. 50, The Caldron, as being a symbol of Life's Melting Pot. As it follows hex. 49 Revolution which is about being an independent individual - "On your own day you are believed!" - it thus suggests to me that now at 50 we progress to seeing we're all individuals making up this soup together and so as advice about dealing with difficult relationships perhaps 50 is a reminder that, "It takes all kinds."

So true, though does not give me any hints on how to deal with this in practice...

After focusing on this hexagram we had some friends over for brunch today and we were all in the kitchen together each person working on a different task. It seemed very Caldron like. I noticed to my pleasant surprise, how one neighbor that I usually find sort of tedious was not hogging the conversation as usual, which so often happens when he is here at the house and it's just me and my husband. The fellow was chopping vegetables, listening to the group chatter and occasionally adding a comment. He seemed quite grounded and sane! So perhaps the way to put 50 into practice with difficult relationships is to see if when you have to be with them see if you can surround yourself and them with other people to dilute their impact.

Wow! That's genius!!
Your take on this rocks rosada, thank you!
You may find it interesting, both parties I did a casting for are real conversation hogs :D

What should I do with this rel? 50
An image of burning wood - useful to heat the house and body, to cook food but harmful if you are too close. Keep your distance, use it when the need arises and make sure it's safe, e.g. fire should be contained (fireplace/stove/oven), provide for smoke exhaust system.

As I pondered on h50, I realised that in its opposite h3 the seed only starts to grow, something new is happening and in 50 we have a grown tree used to make fire, the end of its life. I think there is no point in trying to improve the relationship, to connect more with that person. Just accept their company if you need to, but in somewhat reserved way. Maybe try to avoid the 'spark' that ignites them and brings out 'smoke'.

That's a pity, I am a fan of mutual improvement in relationships... but Tim K, perhaps you are right about "but harmful if you are too close" quality. I kinda summed up your clarification and rosada's to:
Let them warm up your bigger circle, and let it be all ;)

Thanks,

Recently both these people tried to reach me several times, I was of course unwilling to go our "just-like-before" communication style, I asked the IChing how/how much should I communicate with them?
51 unchanging...

Does this mean I have to shock them with my new stand?

I think yes, it means stay on course despite any circumstances.

51, Legge:

he will be (like the sincere worshipper) who is not (startled into) letting go his ladle and (cup of) sacrificial spirits.

Well this happened that after my silence towards them, we had a bit of more interaction lately, quite context-related which was actually really pleasant and warm! They both showed that they had been waiting for more attention from me, well enthusiastically. So now I am thinking: we all need each other, we can make each other happy... I need a more creative way to deal with this all :) Should I ask the Iching again? Or is there any more in the two castings still hidden?

Cheerio,
