This is kind of a follow up to the discussion about diluted Tarot.

We had psychics as "entertainment" at our party last night, and I saw that one was using a beautiful deck. She said it was an Osho Zen deck. I haven't had much experience with tarot since I started focusing on the YiJing for guidance, and I'd love the tarot readers' thoughts on this particular deck.

Thanks.

Love,

Val

Hi Val,
Glad to see you survived the party.
I am not sure it is the same Osho deck I have. My Osho deck has cards with little zen stories that are illustrated by pictures. They are wonderful to use as 'thought for the day' lessons in life, but I have never used them as an oracle. I collect tarot cards and that is why I acquired them. Every one of the stories is a superb story with rich deep meaning.

Hi Pagan...

I've been researching it on the net. I found this description of it that I believe you'll easily relate to.

"Osho Zen Tarot is definitely not a traditional tarot in the sense that you play with prediction. Rather it is a Transcendental game of Zen which mirrors the moment, unwaveringly presenting what is here, now, without judgement or comparison. This game is a wake-up call to tune in to sensitivity, intuition, compassion, receptivity, courage and individuality."

The images are extremely evocative. I sat down at her table at the end of the evening and she answered my question with more details than I expected without having to tell her what it was.

She saw the experience I just had in Virginia with the "men in grey" in dreams and Yi readings. The first card she turned over of the Osho Zen deck was the angels, and I immediately recognized them as the "men in grey" and I was filled with joy, then she turned over the card of the child peering through the gate that only looks locked, and my eyes immediately welled up with tears as I recognized her as the little girl the men in grey guided me to communicate with. She then turned over the "puzzle face" card called Completion and I knew that was the result of the communication with the little girl. She said a lot more such as the "why" of the Virginia experience and the "when" of the "why." And I'm content.

I'm still today very effected by the intensity of the experience... very contemplative.

Here are some images of the cards that I found on the net... really beautiful cards. The angels (Guidance) is among them.

And here is a site where you can do an electronic reading with the Osho Zen cards:

Bythe way, does anybody know, what is the circle of trigrams that is drawn on 10th arcane of these Tarot? A very strange one, as it seems to me...

Hi Peter...

Do you have an image of the 10th arcane card that you could post here, so that I can see this circle you're talking about?

No biggie, if not. I ordered a set of the cards and books yesterday because I'm absolutely fascinated with the artwork on them and their incredible evocative nature, so I can wait until they come in.

Thanks.

Oh, my scan is big, and there is almost nothing interesting except this circle. I'll simply give order of trigrams - from the left (East) clockwise:

Kun - Xun - Qian - Zhen - Gen - Kan - Dui - Li.

There are also Zodiac signs (Aries, Taurus...), which begin also from the left and go counterclockwise.

Hi gang...

Well this new love affair of mine just keeps snowballing. I somehow worked my way to the Osho Zen tarot artist's website. And I discovered there that she also has done an illustrated YiJing.

I like her work very much. I'm ordering her YiJing book as well.

Hope you enjoy...

PS... Yellowblue is even lovelier in person than she is on this forum. I just had the good fortune to share a meal with her at the commissary here.

Gosh, thanks for the link to the Osho Zen site Val.

It's a beautiful deck and I've had some very insightful readings this morning.

I've mentioned before on this forum that I'm undergoing person centred/existential counselling and the commentaries on these cards provide insights in the "vocabulary" that I'm already thinking in.

I usually work with an Arthurian Tarot deck because the images and associations resonate strongly with mythologies I'm already fascinated by.

This Osho deck has both "otherness" and familiarity at the the same time.

Hi Val,
I guess you can call this one the card of surrender! That is a darling chihuahua. I like it when they have black noses instead of pink ones. Looks like he has an apple head too. How old is (obviously) he?

The Tao Oracle is interesting. Her paintings do seem to capture the spirit of each gua - at least the ones on her site do - and her brief sayings for each seems equally fitting. A refreshing view.

Thanks, Val, for passing it along.

Hi Pagan and Candid...

That's not actually my dog. I received an email from a friend yesterday was nothing but heart warming pictures of animals.

I wanted to post them all... which is crazy, of course, and that one was the most irrestible.

Candid, I ordered the Tao Oracle and it was there to greet me when I got home from work last night. WOW! A whole new window on the oracle opened up for me. It's the Yi through cartomancy. I tested a couple of the card lay outs and was blown away by all that was revealed.

It's not expensive, and I recommend it to everyone, especially those who respond well to visuals.

Val

Val, thanks for the report of the Tao Oracle. I'm not one to collect things for sake of having them, but this may speak to me in a visual way, as you have said. Her artistic impressions of each gua are moving.
