Outcome of moving 16–2

Hi guys I’m newer to this but what a wonderful community . I’m feeling very stagnant in my life and I’m having a calling to move from Ontario to Alberta Canada (one of many places I’m thinking about) . I asked what would be the outcome of this move to Alberta and received 16 with the 4th line changing to 2. I want to be closer to Mother Earth that’s why it’s very compelling for me. Please let me know your thoughts on this

With the 4th line moving, the only advice I'd offer is to consider the practicalities of your move - to be 'down-to-earth' about it, and not totally act on impulse.

Richard Ruth's translation of 16.4 reads, 'Wary elephant. There will be great gain. No doubt ....' Here I think you have a bit of practical-ness (wary elephant-ness) playing a part in your 'great' move.

And even though I don't usually see the resulting hexagram as a future outcome, how can we not notice, here you have Hex. 2, Mother Earth (the plowed field), ready to accept whatever is planted.

Line 16.2 continues, 'Why not loan cowries?' Cowrie shells were a form of currency in ancient China. So, I can imagine this as a recommendation to 'give' or volunteer: to find ways to care for others or for our earth; either now or after you make your move.

Is it possible this reading reflects that so far this is a fanciful question, like maybe not that much specific research has gone into it yet? 16.4 can be really nice actually, finding kindred spirits or things working out, but I personally haven't found it to be very grounded, it's more like an idea and a lot will depend on your intention, your willingness to nurture that intention. The fan yao 2.4 isn't that encouraging of action and neither is Hex 2, at least not rash action. I feel like it might be suggesting you sit with these ideas and feelings to get clearer on what you want. It could also mean that there will be something very nice on the surface of this move but that it would also be constricting in other ways. Like you'll have fewer options there (being in the bag in the fan yao). Maybe get clearer on what you want to move toward versus what you want to leave behind?
