Panic attacks 37>23

The last week or so I've started to experience panic attacks and heart palpitations.....I realise this has probably come about after focusing and focusing on finding employment and getting nowhere. Every time I think something's going to pan out an 'obstacle' or delay of some sort appears.....It's got to the stage where I'm starting to think is it even worth applying for jobs anymore because even if an employer shows a keen interest something will stop it from moving forward......this is very disheartening to say the least.....What do I need to know about my quest to find paid employment.....Hexagram 37.1.3.5>23....there as definitely been a Stripping back of looking at what skills I really have to offer and adjusting my resume accordingly so that's a positive thing in itself. 37 - I want to feel 'at home' in the job I take up......Line 1 - Yes I'm trying to make it clear exactly what I would like in any role I take up so it's clear to the employer when I send them my application.....Line 3 - I am exhausted for sure when my expectations of taking up a job keep coming up against a brick wall - hence panic attacks I'd think......Line 5 - it seems I am creating the right foundations to get a job but.....

Hi becalm,

are you currently temporarily getting assistance from your family? (housing. money, etc)
or are you on your own completely?

Just fooling around.. looking at the names of the hexagrams, Family/Stripping Away, I wonder if you are being encouraged to look for work that is somehow very different from what you have done or been "at home with" in the past? Or as Sripping mentions giving to those below to shore up your own situation, perhaps you have some responsibilities to home or family members that you should give your time and attention to and this somehow leads to employment? Or strip your house and host a yard sale? Or is the I Ching simply mirroring your palpitating heart's concern that without work you'll be stripped bare - and thus getting these lines is giving you a chance to reassure yourself that it's not as bad as all that?
Feng shui wise, washing down the outside of your front door is a ritual for attracting clients and opportunities.

Thanks rosada - couldn't strip my house anymore otherwise they'd be nothing left....I'm basically a minimalist let alone at present with all boxes packed.....in some aspects I'm not destitute but my concern is I'm close to retiring age and have no finances to retire with and I worry about where I'll end up in the coming years.....the present job I'm very very interested is with a family that looks after families/people who are in need of assistance in some way, including refugees.

I'm wondering now if this has got to do with my present home. (Dynamics described in a previous thread) when the new nieghbour moved in about a month ago I tried to work out a potential parking issue that's proved to be a problem with past tenants Line 1....a week later all of a sudden her toxic personality came out and the parking became an issue....I kinda just laughed and thought whatever and left it at that but it does cause not the best vibes....Line 3. Line 5:looks like it sorts itself our BUT not sure of the relevance to a job for me.

37/23 sounds like it could be discribing the job you are interested in - working with 37.Families who have been 23.Stripped.

Thinking further on this after hearing something insightful in a random romantic novel lol......I wonder if it means to keep Stripping myself back until I work exactly where my 'Work home' is

Quest to find paid employment 37.1.3.5>23.

Is it time for a switchabout whereby you are the one in need of assistance rather than the one who is offering assistance to all kinds of families 'including refugees'. You are a refugee, a refugee of the country and the time you are in. You say you are close to retiring age, is there no kind of state pension or anything ?

Are there any alternatives to paid employment because if there aren't then surely your country is making and leaving destitute many people nearing age 60 or over.

I don't think you should go and try to help anybody except yourself, I think you've done enough helping.

The Family's Stripping is the sentence it makes. Those lines show security and a sense of control (line 5). Is there any money left in properties/homes you've had you can recall in some way ?

I know you've said there's nothing, no income, no savings and yet in this time of being stripped back (23) there's 37, people under one roof, the wealth of the home.

Do you own your home? Do you live alone? Do you have any spare bedrooms? I ask because if you have a spare room, you might consider renting it out. Inviting people into your home in order to generate income. Once you do generate income, a strict budget is an absolute MUST. Getting your financial house in order so to speak. Because of your situation, that will include stripping away. I know that doesn't address the question you asked specifically, but that is what came to me.

Going in a very literal direction...you asked, "What do I need to know about my quest to find paid employment?" I haven't read most of your previous threads, so this might be a silly question, but are you trying to find a job that's a lot like what you've done in the past, or something different? Or some of both?

Am asking because hexagram 37 is the "paired hexagram" to 38 (if you turn it around 180 degrees and look at it from the other end, you'll see 38). 37 can be thought of as "inside" and 38 as "outside" - so if you're mostly looking for jobs outside your previous experience, would it be better to stick to "inside"?

Repeat: that might not make the slightest sense! Just adding to the idea collection.

Also, I wonder if 37.5 could be the culmination of your answer, and the other two lines are what's needed to get there?

With line 5 as the pinnacle of the advice, line 1 says you need "barriers" of some sort, and line 3 - I have no idea what that might be. You've been busy working on this, and not playing around at all from what you're saying, so you'll have to give some thought to what Yi could be telling you. Could it be possible to be very busy, but with the wrong things?

Line 5 has been the subject of considerable research and discussion. I don't think I can summarize it very well, so I'll just give you some information and links and let you look through it. That's probably better anyway, since what's important is what sticks out to you, not what I'd decide to put in a summary.

Here's what Hilary writes in WikiWing:
'The king enters his own home.
Do not worry. Good fortune.'

Or more literally:
'The king takes it on: there is a home.
Do not be concerned! Good fortune.'

What the king does is jia: see LiSe on the character. It does not mean 'entering' or 'nearing'! (And you does not mean 'his own', but only 'has', 'there is' or 'brings about'.) It may mean 'entering service' or 'stepping into a role' or 'taking it on'. Also in the Oracles of Hexagram 45 and Hexagram 59 for approaching the temple', and Hexagram 55.)

The king retains his autonomy. He can choose to be part of a relationship - or he can choose not to be.

Plenty of experiences with the line are from women finding he chooses not to be, or not with her. A common theme: someone taking charge of his/her life.

'Do not worry' also translates as 'Do not sympathise!' or even 'Do not have compassion!'
Why not?
Maybe because the centre of 'home', of secure, harmonious relationships that work, is this rulership, autonomy. That must come first: if you displace it by putting worry about someone else at the centre, everything falls apart.
(Compare 'the king jia it. Do not mourn!' in Hexagram 55.)

@heatwave - thanks.....I'm on a tight budget because there's very little money to budget with really.....if I owned my own home I wouldn't be concerned about my present position. @Trojina...thankyou yes I guess I've helped many others and now I'm trying to help myself. Yes there's a pension but they've recently changed it to unemployment benefits which I'm already on up to the age of 70 or thereabouts...it's almost a poverty line of help, hence my need to work some.....@Liselle...thanks. It does make sense I've applied for different jobs as I have a vast amount of transferable skills so one day it can be one type of job I'm skilled at and the next it can be a different type of job I have skills in....however Line 5 seems to indicate I will get something of service. Most of the jobs I apply for have a family link to them and initially I may well be staying with family for a few weeks until I get settled into the area and a new job but so far it continues to be elusive.
