I realized that I should have left more details for better understanding. First of all, I tried virtual i ching today as well and got 30 to 51. And after that i took my coins and asked the question about the job and got 25 to 30. So i think that hex 30 is very important for me here.Anyways as i said earlier, i am at very difficult stage in my life. I am trying to reinvent myself, and start allnew career path. So I put all my efforts to it programming and design courses at local organization. But i think that I have overburdened myself because things are not going so well for me lately.. anyway i have a chance to volunteer at a project ar that organization, but i am scared and not sure should I apply because of the nature of work. Because i am still learning, and I am not sure if I am yet fit to do that kind of work. Is it better for me to apply and face the chance of being incompetent to do the job, or to pass this opportunity and wait for next one?

Hi Eleven333,

“Should I apply to volunteer at one organization?”
25.3.5 to 30 ~ In this situation, following your intuition is correct.

First, bravo for reinventing yourself ~ it’s hard to do! And, second, sorry to hear that you’re having a tough go. But, I’m glad you’ve brought your question here ~ thanks for sharing.

I think the key line in your reading is in the judgment for Hexagram 25, No Error:

“If No Error does not stay in the correct course, there will be calamities and there will be no advantage to have any undertaking.”

I sense that you have significant trepidation about volunteering for this project at that organization ~ a tension between feeling the need to “get out there and get in the game,” and concern over not feeling ready to play?

However, the oracle says, in line 3, that you can put your concerns to the test:

Line 3 ~ “There are hazards despite No Error. For instance, a villager ties an ox here, but a passerby leads it away. The villager ends up with a loss.”

So, for instance, can you imagine a scenario where you volunteer for this project ~ and then something bad happens on your watch ~ for instance, something involving loss between two others?

If so, if that’s what your intuition is telling you, then the advice is to not apply to volunteer this time, but to keep your eyes open (30) and watch the unfolding of No Error into Clarity.

Line 5 says that ‘having dodged a bullet’ of bad judgment ~ a calamity ~ you will be glad, upon looking back, that you took “no medicine” during the process.

In other words, good judgment requires “no medicine” in order to do the right thing…and avoid calamities.

So, follow your [well rested, well fed, well exercised, clean and clear] intuition to success here.

I hope this helps!

I'm seeing hexagram 25.3 as your concern that due to your inexperience there could be problems. 25.5 however suggests that you are able to learn. So I think this is the I Ching saying that you can't be expected to know the job before you are trained so that's okay. However hexagram 30 says to me that before long people will want you to be able to pull your own weight.

I don't think the I ching is telling you whether you should or should not apply - I think it's just giving you a snapshot of the situation, which is that it's a place where you would start out somewhat unfamiliar with the work but you could apply yourself, learn, and ultimately be an equal member of the team. So now you have to ask yourself, "Am I clear headed enough, calm enough, confident enough in my life right now to learn something new, to be teachable?" and only if the answer is "Yes!" should you apply.
