Hi everyone ... I am getting better at understanding my readings but today I failed completely and hope for your help

I asked the Ging to what extent my hopes for financial independence will fulfill (been through some rough times and was literally hiding from the outside world)

the answer was 55.4.6 > 22


it's like it's very much contradictory ... Please help me understand this reply !!!

Oh la la.. Hex. 55 one of my favourites i love 55 as it has something archaic around..

I wrapped my head alot around Hex. 55 and got it twice in my life. To me 55 has to do with the timeframe between the end of a circle and a starting new one. One meaning (to me) is when the old generation steps back to make space for the new generation, when f. e. a father hands over the business to his daughter or son. In this time the father can expect the worst (daughter/son won´t make it and ruin the business he build up) the (his) sun is darkened. He can as well stick for the rest of his life to his business full of suspicion (line 6).

For Hex. 55.4 Wilhelm writes: wisdom has to be complemented by energy. For 55.1 energy has to be complemented by wisdom. 55.4 is fortunate once someone (old generation) hands over the business taking into account that things will change and that it is wise to step back so daughter/son can take over and create a new fullness.

In short: to me you are in transition, letting old things and times go and starting new ones. Line 6 is a warning: do not stick to old businesses, expectations, hopes etc...

All in all, i regard your casting as fortunate as long as you do not hide anymore simply my 2 cents

For what it´s worth:

Hex. 55 did always remind me of the colors white, black and grey. If you mix white and black you get grey. If the sun is darkend you have a short time of grey.
55.1 is white to me, 55.6 black. All lines inbetween are shades of grey to me.

From Wikipedia: The color grey is often associated with aging or the passage of time, likely due in part to the decreased pigment-production of hair follicles in time, corresponding to the greying of human hair. Ash is grey, grey market....

Grey is as well associated with neutrality in our culture.

this doesn't make sense. Its how the i ching works...the lines change into another hexagram...otherwise what do you think they are changing into ?

Interesting you use the word 'overwhelmed' thats the word i tend to use for hex 55. Abundance is another way of saying overwhelmed.

You feel overwhelmed but something unexpected helps you see through the dark times where you can't see the wood for all the trees. (55.4) Don't be shy in coming forth when opportunities present themselves (55.6) Hmm as for the 22 it could be you are only seeing the surface now...there's alot more goingon than you can see so try to place trust in what you cannot yet see (55.4) and don't get trapped by heavy feelings (55.6)

Keep light (hex 22) yet have faith in what is still hidden (55.4)

I think the idea is if you have a way of interpreting that's very unusual you have a link at the end of your posts in your signature to a thread in Exploring Divination where you explain it which saves you constantly explaining everywhere else when people ask. Its up to you if you want to do that though. Its just I don't think I have ever come across anyone here who thought the 2nd hexagram was of no relevance...to me it seems to make an answer very stunted...like you chopped it off half way ? So it might be worth explaining your POV at some point...only if you want to.

Hi Nykki,

I don't believe any of the Yi's answers are contradictory. Answers have different aspects, which lines point out. Never understood the difficulty with that.

What I'm seeing is that in order to achieve financial independence you must groom yourself for such a position and status. That includes education, degrees or other accredited certifications which qualify you to WORK and earn financial independence.

If on the other hand you really mean entitlements or such, the same principle applies: you wear the face of the part you choose to play in life. Wear a successful face and people start treating you as a successful person. It's a real door opener, which should make getting your mail a lot less stressful.
