Hi everyone,

Just like to ask a question regarding the date and time using the Mei-Hua (Shao-Yung) methodology.

Below is just an example:
Suppose there is a soccer match this weekend with the following details:-
Saturday 25 October 2014
Amani Soccer Club – v – Colleges United FC
Kick-off 7:00 pm
Sports Oval

Suppose I am invited to go to the match. But before I go, I would like to divine the following questions:
(1) Will the weather be fine?
(2) Will there be any inauspicious event, such as, a brawl or altercation between the supporters and/or soccer hooligans?
(3) Which team will win?

Question: Which date and time should I use – the date and time of the soccer match (ie. 25 October 2014 at 7 pm) or the date and time when I thought of the match (ie. when I am writing this email – 22 October 2014 at 3 am)?

Regards

Thanks 1eleven.
Using both dates and times will be more confusing.
Different dates and times give different lower trigrams, which in turn, gives different interpretations.
Perhaps there are some books or articles on this issue. Can you please recommend any?
Cheers

It's not confusing at all. The answer is in my post. No need to look elsewhere. Think and test it out. How comfortable are you with the hexagrams once they are formed? The calculation is only one piece of the puzzle.

Let me know how it works out for you. I used a lot of games to test since results could be validated daily.

Hi 1 eleven,
In a recent event (not the soccer match but a dinner meetup), I tested out what you wrote previously. Firstly, I used the date and time before the event takes place, and lastly, I used the date and time of the event itself.
In the first instance, the Yiching gave me an overview of the event - the beginning and end. In the second instance, the Yiching gave me the happenings in the event - the body. Putting them together, one gets the whole story - the beginning, body and end. Interesting indeed.
If I may conjecture, in a sports match between 2 teams, divining the outcome of the match using the date and time before the event, may tell one which team will win (summary), if and only if, the inquirer knows which trigram represent which team. This is hard as I always get it wrong.
For the details which is the actual score, I reckon divining using the actual date and time of the match itself (which is provided). Again, even if this is the right approach, I am not 100% certain because I don't know how to calculate it from the hexagrams presented - original, nuclear and changed.
I don't recall there is any stories of Shao KangJie (ShaoYong) doing a divination predicting any thing of this nature. There were no examples or books to read on it. I guess it is all trial and error. Or creating one's own system using the Plum Blossom methodology as a base.
Your comment?

Hi globalex - good start and test. How could you use both dates and times in one casting? ;)

Have fun

Hello friend:

I Ching predict the future according to people's subconscious mind. In the theory of Plum Blossom I ching, there are many kinds of prediting methods. As your example, which date and time should we use – because there are so many choices.

Jung Carl Gustav (1875-1961), who was a famous Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist, is also an expert of I Ching. Jung thought that I Ching's prediction corresponds to "synchronicity". So when you ask a question, your subconscious mind will lead you to choose the corresponding "date and time", then you will get your answer.

However, Plum Blossom I ching is not totally as same as the traditional methods of I Ching prediction (althouth it was derived from I Ching). So I suggest that you should not pay close attention to it.

A wise man once told me to never "should" on anyone. Do what works for you.

But isn't nevering someone even worse than shoulding them? Kidding aside, good point. Some people use Plum Blossom, some coins, some computers. Some people use only gua judgements, some all the lines. Some people use numerous changing lines. I only use one text from a divination. To each his own.

Never say never. :bows:

Hi 1eleven,
Suppose the dinner meetup is on, say, 03 Nov 2014 at 6 pm . Presently, today's date is 01 Nov 2014 at 2:28 pm.
Do a test on 01 Nov 2014 at 2:28 pm. Note the results.
Then, do another test using the given date and time, which is, 03 Nov 2014 at 6 pm. Note the results.
After attending the dinner meetup on 03 Nov 2014 at 6 pm, check the results against what you have experienced or saw at the dinner meetup - compare and contrast. Also, see what you have missed or misinterpreted. That's my way.
How about yours 1eleven? How do you go about it?
Cheers

Thanks for pointing this out, 1eleven! Hope you don't mind that I have edited your post to remove the live email link, however, to prevent it from being picked up from email harvesting bots.

It certainly looks like an interesting, but 30 dollars? That's totally out of line with pricing for similar apps.
