What can I learn from Pluto at the last degrees of the sign Sagittarius?

56. The Wanderer

THE WANDERER. Success through smallness.
Perseverance brings good fortune
To the wanderer.

Thus the superior man
Is clear minded and cautious
In imposing penalties,
And protracts no lawsuits.

Pluto is retrograde at the last degrees of Sagittarius until Sept 8 when it will turn direct.
It seems to me this vibration is allowing us to consider one last time what we really believe in and to release and let go misunderstandings because once Pluto goes into Capricorn (November) our beliefs are going to manifest big time and wont be so easily adjusted as they can be just now. What I'm seeing happening now is it seems a lot of people with planets effected by Pluto - that is, those who themselves have planets at the last degree in their birthcharts - are having old issues from the past, particularly long lost friends - re-enter their lives and there being an obvious opportunity to heal and re-connect, or heal and release, but definitely a time to more consciously decide who, what we want to continue having in our lives. When Pluto turns direct I suspect we will be feeling much more clear about are beliefs and philosophy (Sag rules) and be feeling strong and powerful enough to act accordingly - here in the U.S. that could make for an exceptionally intense election in November. Also, I think that as Sagittarius rules beliefs and Capricorn rules reality, I think we're entering a period where Global Warming will no longer be treated as a Theory, but seen as a Reality.

As to the I Ching reading. I can see The Wanderer as a suitable hexagram to be considered in consulting about Sagittarius, the sign that rules travel. I think it's also significant because pluto is such a loner and of course, so is the Wanderer. Looking at the lines specifically:

Success through smallness.

Perseverance brings good fortune to the wanderer.

Pluto is the planet of Power and known for being a bully and also for being lord of the Underworld and thus connected with all sorts of unsavory characters, so it is interesting that here at the last degrees of Sag. where one might expect to finally learn some life lesson, it seems we are being particularly cautioned not try to impose our beliefs and to associate with only good people.

The superior man is clear minded..

Pluto has to do with gluck buried in the depths. Perhaps this line speaks to this being a time to sort out beliefs and learn The Truth.

..and cautious in imposing penalties,

A time to set in place demonstrate our beliefs because we will be forgiven as we forgive others?

And protracts no lawsuits.

Oh boy, with Capricorn being the sign of rules and regulations, I think a lawsuit started now could drag on forever when Pluto enters Capricorn.

Something else occurs to me as I consider The Wanderer.
It seems to me that Sag. is about being able to hear all different beliefs and Capricorn is about being alone and self sufficient. In the past it seems a great deal of our problems have sprung up from not being able to hear or tolerate a point of view different from our own. I think as Pluto enters Cap we're going to find we are more capable of holding our own even while surrounded with totally conflicting points of view. We wont be so easily intimidated and we wont need to persuade others to agree.

Pluto resumes it's forward motion today and will proceed without further pause into Capricorn. I'm curious if anyone experienced anything here in the last day or two they feel is significant of Pluto's shift? For myself I learned this morning that I will be taking off on an unexpected trip here shortly, so that certainly fits with "The Wanderer" for me.

oh my Rosada, thnx for bringing this issue back . .
I was wondering what is going on, had at least 3 such comebacks the past 2 weeks, the two of them actually today. These contacts brought about a tremendous upheaval since the moment I woke up; an hour later I got a call from an ex -long story, very intense relating with lots of synchronicity and not always positive expression- and actually got to talking about me working through his re-appearance and deciding how I want to deal with it. An hour after that a couple of sms from an old friend by whom I felt deeply insulted and had stopped taking his calls. Was calling me repeatedly yesterday but I never picked up not wanting to go into everything again. Writing back I found a way to clear things and ease my mind a bit . .

I have found the past week being deeply upsetting and was just making my way thru some I ching readings on another unresolved relation . . I'm afraid I will have to let those expectations go even though it feels difficult to . . really heart-breaking

Also been thinking a lot about Lise's comments on 31 and 32, changing paradigms and the repeated work they take till they are firmly established ( I guess only natural with all the 29 coming up recently) and feeling the 'change of skin' taking place (not really sure if that fits the astrological situation but it came out with all the rest of this confession ;) )

so definitely YES the stars have been casting their light on my life nowadays!!
would love to hear some more on what comes after this though

cheers!

Interesting that you brought this up again for me too. I had made a note to remember sept. 8th, but forgot ..
In the last month, I have also reconnected with two imprtant people from my past, one just this past friday. In fact this friday, I was sitting with both those people in a coffee house. One was a woman friend with whom i had had a strange but never discussed falling-out...this month, I have gotten to know her in an entirely new light, and though there didnt seem any real reason to bring up the past, my new understanding is healing.
and the other was completely unexpected, from long ago, a man I was once engaged to...very interesting.
I am wondering why Pluto would affect all people in this way you describe. Doesnt it matter where Pluto sits in a personal chart? I dont know much about astrology transits...is pluto a very slow=moving planet, affecting entire generations in a similar way?

When looking at an astrological chart, some key points tell a lot. One of the key points to make note of is the planet of last degree, that is the planet in your chart that is closest to the last degree of the sign it's in.This planet tells how things end up for you. Thus if you have the Sun closest to the last degree of the sign it is in, things would have a way of ending for you on a "Sunny note." However if you had Saturn - the planet of responsibility - as the planet of last degree you might put off taking responsibility, but once you did, you would find you had to complete whatever you had agreed to before your life would move ahead. This way of looking at your personal chart can also be applied to looking at the daily planets. Thus, when we are choosing to do something we look at an astrological chart for the day and consider what is the planet of last degree, because this describes how things started at this time are likely to end up. Thus, if you were to start a romance when Venus was the planet of last degree this would be considered a positive omen for things ending on a loving note. Pluto, the planet of extreme circumstances, death and rebirth, has been at 27 -29 degrees Sagittarius for several years now and thus has often been the planet of last degree. (Not always though because the faster moving planets do squeak in as when they reach the end of a sign, but then they quickly move on to the next sign.) Pluto is a slow moving planet plus it frequently appears to be retrograde, that is, moving backwards. It's not really, it's just that other planet are moving past it so quickly it appears to be standing still. (Think of 33.Reteat, the superior man is not really retreating, moving backwards, he's just letting everyone else rush ahead.) Anyway, Pluto turns retrograde so often it only actually moves ahead a degree or two each year. Pluto has been in this position of last degree for a couple of years now which means that when it comes to day to day activities, life's stories have had a tendency to end on a Pluto note - that is, with a feeling of extreme situations. On top of being the planet of last degree, Pluto has been retrograde for several months in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the sign of philosophy. Pluto at the last degree of this sign would indicate that we are a time now of deciding what it is we truly believe, our philosophy. Retrograde, Pluto at this point would suggest reviewing the past, past beliefs, past relationships, a time for re-considering how we are going to define what was. Old relationships particularly are to be re-evaluated. Because Pluto is power, retrograde it would describe a time when the power is turned off, in other words, a time when our old associations, our old knee jerk reactions, can be released and we can chose more consciously what we chose to respond to. Now, today, Pluto is turning direct, so we are today seeing who, what, still pulls us. What are we drawn to? What pushes our buttons? Things we have avoided acknowledging for YEARS are coming out now as if the Universe is trying to give us one more chance to learn the lessons we've avoided all these years before Pluto goes into Capricorn where our beliefs will be much more evident and not so easy to change.
This thing with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the stock market today is very Plutonic. Huge amounts of money, huge potential consequenses.

Thanks Rosada.

what would it mean for the True Node to be at the last degree in the sign it is in?

The reason the planet of last degree is significant is because how things are going to go is interpreted by looking at the aspects the moon makes as it passes through each sign. Thus the planet of last degree will be the last planet the moon makes an aspect to before it becomes void of course. If the node is at the last degree then I suppose you would consider the significance of the moon conjunct the node, but i don't know much about nodes and I don't know if this even applies to nodes. You could google "Moon conjunct North Node" and see if it tells you anything....

Interesting, Rosada. I haven't done much til now with planets in the last degrees of a sign but I think it deserves more attention.
Pluto going direct - I also had a reconnection with an old friend this week. And in other areas I notice that things that were more or less stuck are moving again.
As if the breaks are off now. Go go go go! :)

Pluto will oppose my sun in the first degree of Cancer soon, for the last time. It has happened before, earlier this year, but it feels lighter now, not anymore as if the ceiling can fall on my head any moment.

Hi Rosada, is the last degree of the sign or the house, or is that the same?

I also had a reconnection with an old friend last Friday actually. Plus during the last two weeks I made a lot of changes on my spiritual life because of deep changes I've done, culminating on Friday when I've officially "left" my church's duties and decided not to be enclosed in any religion. Long time ago I studied astrology but left it aside at one stage... Interesting look. My sun is in Scorpio (27 degrees) and originally is sextil Pluto. I was wondering why I was so restless lately, without being able to accommodate to beliefs I could not take as my own. Yep... it has been Pluto's time.

Maybe the smallness refers to Pluto being a
puny, piddly little KBO instead of a real planet.

Hollis, The last degree of the sign.

By the way, I misspoke above saying look at the moon CONJUNCT the node, you would look at what ever the aspect is, it might be conjunct or sextile, square, trine or opposition.

Lightflower, Yes. with your Sun in Scorpio you would have to 56. Travel On when you realized your deepest beliefs had transformed!

Brad, Not sure what you are saying?.

Thinking about Brad's comment that Pluto is a small even puny planet. Perhaps this explains why when Pluto makes it's second contact with a person the sense of crisis is usually much softened. Like the first contact is experienced as a sense of death, as Pluto moves on, but then it one degree later it turns retrograde and comes back.
This second hit often feels like a rebirth. Sort of like a Bad News/Good News joke. The bad news is your house got flooded, the good news is now you don't have to scrub the floors. So at first hit Pluto is experienced as this big bad mysterious god of the underworld,
but with the second hit he's no longer a mystery and one knows how to deal even with death/change.

Pluto's orbit is such that he always retrogrades back and hits you again before moving on. One or two degrees forward, then one or two degrees back two or three degrees forward, then back...the mill grinds exceedingly fine.

Lightflower, I was just refering to my original toss here, asking what Pluto turning direct would mean and I got 56. The Traveler. Pluto is Traveling On...and many of us are seeing where we need to leave old positions and move on at this time too...
