Poetry reading? 9.1.5 -> 18

Hi All,

I have an upcoming group poetry reading coming up at the end of the month, pretty much with people I don't know. I'm traveling by train to get there and will stay overnight. So I asked 'What will be the impact of my poetry reading?' I got hex 9.1.5 -> 18. Changing lines 1 & 5 bode well, but the resulting hex is 18, Corruption, which I'm puzzled about. Does this point to fear of moving into new territory? I've given poetry readings before, but they've been at open mics at the local pub. Only a handful of times have I ventured elsewhere to give a reading.

I like to call hex 18 Fixing instead of Corruption. Maybe something will break down and have to be fixed. In any case, we usually consult the moving lines and the relating hexagram is of lesser importance. As you said, moving lines 1 and 5 bode well. Good luck!

Maybe there won't be a huge impact, but it'll be the start of a process of doing further readings and becoming more involved with a new loose group of people or disseminating your work. I wonder if you might not see any impact immediately as both 18 and 57 (9.1 turns to 57 and 57.5 to 18) mention a period of three days before and after the decisive event. I don't see the reading as ominous, rather as humdrum. Pay attention throughout the trip, do your reading in the way that feels comfortable to you (9.1) which might be less performative than some people's, and be ready to meet people and do further readings later etc. If the idea of reading with a new group in a bigger venue and being in the spotlight makes you nervous that could be what 18 is indicating will begin to be fixed on this occasion, though it's probably a process.
