Practical techniques for disengaging?

I would hope never to be playful with or about my destiny or fate, as I regard that in the most sober manner. Playfulness is an expression of life, but not of purpose.

Creating our own destiny.. whew, that’s a big one. I worked for a TV manager once who forced everyone to write and repeat daily affirmations of wealth, and review them publicly during his sales meetings. The station wrote hundreds of thousands in new advertising revenue, in just a matter of three months. A year later he was fired, for nearly bankrupting the whole operation. Writing business and collecting revenues are two entirely different things. He created his destiny, alright, but not quite the way he planned it.

Pizza trees sounds like a great idea! Hold the peppers and heavy on the anchovies.

But if you believe global warming is caused by fuel emissions our earth would prefer it if you did not go to Bali - you will be the same person in Bali as you are here. Whatever your're looking for you don't need to go to Bali to get it :mischief:

trojan i appreciate this thought as i think about the earth every day. especially the water supply. a limited resource, water. recycle, live simply etc etc. there is clean energy out there. why is not up and running. we could have our cake and eat it too. and in bali i will be able to live a more simple life. :mischief:

Yes I agree. I'm beginning to see that anticipating an event or a certain outcome is tanatamount to forcing it into a narrow possibility when there might be the REAL avenue for positive change or a BETTER possibility around the corner. Perhaps this is where faith and trust in the Dao, or Universe comes into play. Being playful with our destiny but not complacent. Extremely difficult sometimes, but it may just mean we have to quietly let things build until we feel its time to grasp that opportunity and where we have the requisite energy to do it justice. The IC seems really big on this. Needing, pleading and hoping something will be so may well be going against the creativity of the moment that accumulates the required window of opportunity.

trust in the dao? you joking? THAT ol shape shifter? lol.:mischief: no way. i've let things quietly build up and the whole point of the IC is that sometimes it is right to change your destiny.

Absolutely! :) But it's all in the timing. If it feels really right and you think you're ready to take that Bali plunge and its just a matter of getting things formalized then you don't need the IC to tell you the direction.

Sun, sea and simplicity. Sounds good to me.:D

Yes, it was Hilary. She also said that unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard about it. I guess I've been living under a rock because the first I heard about it was here...

I never heard of The Secret either so also must be living under rock...

Another Rock Dweller here. It may be a larger community under here in the Unenlightenment than market studies previously estimated...

Wow. I thought everyone in the US watched Oprah and Larry King? ;)

There seems to be outstanding company under this rock. Can anyone move in?

Another rock dweller here. HI!!
I went there and the trailer sure looked like being made for a wish to come true: money for the makers. Lots of promises but not showing anything. So I thought what they would show in the end would be more or less like that too. Not a future I'd really wish or need.

Well yes, of course if we're not in the USA we live under a rock. That much is well-known. :mischief:

The gist of The Secret is indeed that you create your own reality with your thoughts, beliefs and feelings, all the time. That's an idea with some mileage in it, I think, though not necessarily in the direction (or the new car) the film drove it. It's just that when it's made into a universal 'law', compassion seems to be missing.

Anyway - Yi's response took the pseudoscience out of it and put the romance back.

The problem I have with things like that, is separating the romance from the reality. Romance isn't a constant; it must be continually revitalized. That amounts to continually psyching myself up, or being psyched by someone else. That feels artificial and shallow to me after awhile. I was in Amway awhile, and it was very much like a religion.

I certainly have no problem with financial prosperity, if that's what a person desires, and has the personality and aptitude to pull it off; so long as it doesn't impose on the aspirations of others, such as downplaying their own desires for their life. All too often, collective "get rich" groups are quick to label those with different visions for their life as losers.

That said, I see the crux of 45 as drawing to you those things which you cultivate: first through thought, then through movement, then through bringing to completion. That includes the "bad" that comes along with the "good". So we have to be careful what we aspire to attain, achieve or become.

You know the reading I'm talking about? "How does inner life relate to outer experience?" (Does it create it, for instance, or respond to it, or...)
Answer: 3 moving to 17. You relate to your world like the suitor, 'driving a full team of horses, seeking marital alliance.'

No, I didn't know the reading, but now that I do it certainly makes sense.

I don't mean to cast a negative spin on the concept of "How does inner life relate to outer experience?" I think it's a great question and answer. My only point of mentioning 45 is, this is how I've witnessed thoughts becoming reality, the good and the bad. It's true that we draw to us that which we mentally prepare ourselves to receive. I very much believe that. I think it's a question of suitability of the suitor and the alliances they seek; and that, I believe, has quite a lot to do with an individual's nature and their accompanying fate. They dance together.

I'm not sure how to respond to the 'under a rock' comment. It's not at all how I feel or what I believe.
