I have not managed to be online for awhile, and so it is good to be back.

I wanted to raise this topic of projecting fear onto the Yi. I have noticed in my own use of the Yi a relationship to my psychological and emotional state at the time of casting the Yi and to the Yi's response. I have noticed that from time to time that the Yi is mirroring my anxiety or my current mindset more than producing a prediction or a solution. I also have read on this site how many experience the same phenomenon.

The other thing I have noticed is that there are times when my understanding is muddied or blocked when I project a sort of "Daddy" kind of relationship onto the Yi meaning that I am not able to read the Yi's reply as well as I could because I have given the Yi so much authority and power, like many of us would to our fathers or other authority figures in our life, so that there is what is a more fearful read of the Yi's reply.

Then there are other times when I do not do a) or b) and where the Yi's replies seem more matter of fact or reductionist, and I take in the information easily.

i was wondering (because the availibity of resources are limited to me given my location) whether anyone else had any comments on these kinds of experiences, had experiences or observations to share, or any suggestions about how to use the Yi more effectively and how to command more balance.

Thank you in advance for your time and responses.

I agree with you. I think as humans its hard not to fall into these projections. I catch myself doingit intermittently. What I tend to do in those times where I perceive Yi as Big Daddy is just to notice it, leave the reading alone for a while, even an hour will do, go back to it after I've fully bought the projection to consciousness....then I can see it better.

Yi can easily stand in for the 'super ego', our super egos are largley formed by parental relations and parental relations are things deeply embedded in us. One can see how easily some people will turn all of Yis answers into " its all your fault" whilst others wouldn't see a Yi shaped reprimand if it bit them on the bum. Most of us veer between the two perhaps according to whether we are the persona daddy loves that day or the persona he punishes.

I think people with strict super egos could do themselves harm with continual castings, it can become a tool for self flagellation which is why this forum can be good to have other people to let some fresh air in on a reading. This conversation reminds me strongly of hex 18 with its festering parental corruption.

I think we are inclined to both flatter and flagellate ourselves via projections on to Yi and often in shared readings one almost hears the appeal for confirmation of the flattery or the flaggelation.

When we can get that out of the way as much as possible we can see things in a more hex 15 kind of way

Having said all that theres certainly times I've felt 'parented' in a good way by Yi, it can't be something to eradicate completely if we a looking for guidance from a source higher than our usual awareness and knowlege. How can we help but look up to it sometimes, be comforted by it sometimes, feel praised by it sometimes, feel chastened by it sometimes...or even dismissed and ignored by it sometimes.

Savvy observations, ML.

It's why I don't care for phrasing questions beginning with "what should I do?" As though going to "daddy or mummy", or any serious authority figure, to be told what to do. And the kind of fear you mention stifles ones own creative potentials and problem solving skills. That's hardly the intent of the Yi.

Making a student dependent upon the teacher means lots of work for the teacher, which empowers a lazy and spoiled child. Rather, the teacher awakens the answer, or sometimes just the spark, within the student. It's up to the student to do the homework.

Trojan and Sooo:

Trojan and Sooo, I agree with everything that you shared, and I wanted to specifically to say that I liked this that Trojan wrote:

How can we help but look up to it sometimes, be comforted by it sometimes, feel praised by it sometimes, feel chastened by it sometimes...or even dismissed and ignored by it sometimes.

AND

wanted to appreciate this written by you, sooo:

With both of these thoughts in mind, I went right to the wondering what is the purpose of Yi. Obviously this is an ongoing question that we have on any oracle tool or tool of personal transformation...I am thinking about some general philosophical constructs where humans, of course, would like to make sense of the world, create order in a seemingly streaming randomness of existence, and to create the comfort that Trojan was speaking about.

I guess this is why there are a preponderance of books out (especially now) on the power of positive thinking because when I think about my shifting mental and emotional states whilst casting Yi's and the corresponding replies, I think about those concepts. I think about how important it is to positively intuit the world and that achieving mental and emotional balance becomes even more critical. Seeing the world aptly, "correctly" is an invaluable currency. Simply put, I have a new awareness that achieving balance is catapulted to heights when reflecting on understanding Yi's replies.

So, thinking about the purpose of Yi in my own journey has become a journey within a journey...

Again, I would think that there would be a lot of interesting experiences that could be shared about how Yi can direct our energies as well as reflect...

Just initial thoughts...

As I'd mentioned on another thread not long ago, I asked Yi the same question, worded a bit differently, like: why do you bother to help humans? I wanted to know, what would motivate consciousness of this particular oracle to avail itself to humanity's unending questions? Answer was 13, no lines.

I also loved the answer, or more correctly, Yi once again blew my mind with the answer. Candidly, I felt like the cat that swallowed the canary. :D

The last 10 days or so, I've been getting what feels like a real paddling from the Yi, cutting me no slack whatsoever, and during a difficult time and set of very real circumstances. Anything but "nice" or endearing! It was difficult to discern how much of this perceived sternness was actually intended by the Yi and how much was actually self-inflicted consternation. That's why your thread instantly caught my attention, because you put your finger directly on this dilemma.

Yi sometimes seems not only inconsistent but downright fickle. I think we, or at least some of us, do this quite frequently, and often unnecessarily, due to our misinterpretation.

In hindsight, I believe there was some severe correction and redirection of my course, but I also think much of it spoke of the bigger picture surrounding my life, rather than intending to be strict on a personal level; and that at least some of the strictness was self imposed - which sometimes is not a bad thing, but sometimes it can be.

Treading -10 applies to this discerning between high and low, and exactly what is the tiger's tail in a given set of circumstances. Sometimes it's our own tail we step on. chuckle

h13 interpretation...

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly.
I'm crying.

Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come.
Corporation tee-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday.
Man, you been a naughty boy, you let your face grow long.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob.

Mister City Policeman sitting
Pretty little policemen in a row.
See how they fly like Lucy in the Sky, see how they run.
I'm crying, I'm crying.
I'm crying, I'm crying.

Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye.
Crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess,
Boy, you been a naughty girl you let your knickers down.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob.

Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun.
If the sun don't come, you get a tan
From standing in the English rain.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob.

Expert textpert choking smokers,
Don't you thing the joker laughs at you?
See how they smile like pigs in a sty,
See how they snied.
I'm crying.

Semolina pilchard, climbing up the Eiffel Tower.
Elementary penguin singing Hari Krishna.
Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allan Poe.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
