Purposes in lives

I just asked a purpose-related question today and came here to share the answer (having found it awesomely interesting).
The exact question was "What is the next step I should take toward attaining my true purpose?"
48 - the Well - changing lines 1 and 5 to 11, Harmony
I saw an image of two wells. One well is long exhausted, muddy and abandoned by all. The other has a clear cold spring in it and invites you to drink. Choose between the two wells. The choice is obvious. And it leads to Harmony.
The Well is also about community (the superior man blah blah part concentrates on the "gathering people around it" aspect of the well - and animals, as in line 1). The water is the unconscious. Draw on the collective unconscious. Choose Well

Line 1 warns: Don't forget to use the well well, or else.
Line 5:
The all-important thing about a well is that its water be drawn. The best water is only a potentiality for refreshment as long as it is not brought up. So too with leaders of mankind: it is all-important that one should drink from the spring of their words and translate them into life.

Something has mucked up the well- someone who can help has been disregarded. One has to endure a little remonstration from someone who feels a sense of guardianship. But the answers are there.

11. The ruler...aids the people.

I suggest you look around you and ask what do I have that I'm not using that might be helpful to others? If it's old clothes, take them to the Goodwill, if it's a talent for singing get a voice coach and join a choir.

The point is, you've got gifts that you could put to better/wider use.

Yeah!

I'm the muddy well (been feeling stagnant, lonely and leaning toward depression) and I must open the clear cold spring inside me... Otherwise I can't offer anything to anybody!
In order to reach Harmony - I must provide

But I can't help seeing an ease in this message, you know - the fact that it leads directly toward 11, and also that it's obvious which well everyone will go to... In order to make personal progress, I must change the water I drink, and also the water I provide to others The emotions I "feed" myself with and the emotions I spread around me.

Back with an update... Because this is directly related to the OP...
I recently joined an organization in my town which helps the poor, the homeless, disabled, etc. Today I went to meet some of the people and discuss what they do and what I can do for them. The meeting went really well, and what's awesome they can really use my illustration and photography skills, aside from any "concrete" help I offered

Anyway, I came home and asked the Yi - "How did I do?"

And Yi said... 14.6 -> 34

I see that as a definite blessing and a confirmation that I'm on the right path!
