Im a bit confused with recent events with my friend..I asked Is it worth it to pursue a relationship with X?

It may be saying that since he is not married, you may not take whatever reservations he may have about being in a relationship seriously, or that the relationship will lack grounding; "too frivolous".

I would ask it what problems you might encounter pursuing a relationship with this person.
