Hello there...

in a context where the question is "WHEN ?" about relationship, and the answer starts with hex 32.... it just gives a measure of time?

the question was " When X and A will finally be able to enjoy their relationship (love story)"? (obviously something is preventing them at the present moment to do that)..

So 32 is to consider as "duration" meaning what it is now it will stay....so it will never happen? Or it has to be considered a starting point as a solid relationship?

Question: " When X and A will finally be able to enjoy their romantic relationship "?
The complete answer is 32.2.3

How do you read this?

The answer seems to give two opposite alternatives. The first is that they form an enduring relationship and there are no regrets. The second is that they form a relationship but that they lack virtue; that is, they are not consistent.

How do you read this?

It could be read as eventual marriage. 32 is a perpetual relation between wind (eldest daughter) and thunder (eldest son). While 31 is the relationship between the middle son and daughter; son/daughter not meaning incest, just the maturity level of each, is courtship. But 32 is designed to be a marriage, an enduring relationship.

Since courtship (31) is associated with spring I believe 32 is associated with summer. I don't take these timing considerations too literally, but they may be.

Since the relating hexagram is 16, I would expect this to be a stormy relationship, which accords with the nature of thunder and wind in 32. The danger is that it may be what's often called a "whirlwind romance", so the emphasis is on not getting swept away by the tide of emotions but to base the relationship on enduring values and principles. That's why courtship comes before marriage, to work through those stormy adjustments before settling down and committing one another.

If you're only looking for the time and not the rest, there are methods some use to determine this, but I do not use them.

Same for me, Larouge. I don't do time calculations with the I Ching, although there are others who do.

If they have already met, then the when is already in the past. It's an ongoing process. They need to enjoy the process of developing it so that it works better. Plug this thing into a larger context and adapt.
