Hi,
I trust that all my material needs will always be provided for. At the same time my mind would like to know through which channels I can expect income to flow to me.
I asked the I Ching the question "Income through which channels?"
Yi's answer was: 32, 3.5 to 47 (32 Lasting, 47 Confined)

This is the reading:

The Chinese character for 'Confined' or 'oppressed' shows a tree completely encircled by walls: an image of entrapment and isolation. You are cut off, and cannot reach out to others. The great person finds good fortune in constancy to an inner ideal. This is the supreme test of character: whether you can hold to your purpose when there is no encouragement, no confirmation from outside, but only your own inner resources. The lack of outward signs of progress does not mean that you are wrong, or that the world is wrong. Rather than resenting the walls, concentrate on the life and growth within them.
Do not place too much value on words: they will not provide you with a way out – neither conversation, nor argument, nor your own reasoning and theorizing. Words alone are only circulating ideas; they lack the real, personal connection that would make them trustworthy.

Being Confined follows from Hexagram 46, Pushing Upward:
'Pushing upward and not reaching an end is naturally Confining.'

My feelings and thoughts about the answer:
I feel grateful for this answer. It confirms to me that I am on a path of upholding my own ideal and belief of how "income" flows to me and it confirms the good fortune that I am already experiencing and expecting. The reading also reminds me of the futility of "words" - of grasping intellectually/attempting to control the flow. This actually leaves me feeling relieved as I feel reassured that all good is coming naturally. Although I cannot reach out to others I can reach within myself and carry on the path which is most important to me, the path of inner peace. While I may be "confined" in space and time, I can carry on being grateful for what is and grow internally within the confinement.
I will continue to accept every blessing as it flows to me in whichever form - right now this lovely reading! Thank you. Love and Peace:bows:

So, a Practice of ceasing grasping and dwelling on the objects in the stream of your thoughts...

...puts an end to Story-telling, leaving the mind...

...as a golden mirror to presently reflect the illuminated flow of things as they are ~ wholly beyond space and time ~ Peaceful in the face of birth and death ~ truly unconfined.

Correction you did in fact give your ideas about the reading. Sorry. I didn't see it because you pasted in so much. There's no need to paste all that in it just gets in the way. For sure your understanding of the answer doesn't seem remotely based on it anyway

You seem to have skipped past the lines though, in particular line 3. I'm not really clear how you came to this interpretation ? Not sure how it connects to the reading in any way ?

Actually I don't see how radiofreewill's interpretation is connected to the reading either

this isn't what the lines say and it's not an especially 'lovely' reading, I mean line 3 is a warning. Where do you get this about story telling from ?

Maybe,
I just did a test and it showed me Image, Oracle, Sequence, and Pair for the Received Hex. It had changing line text, and only the Image & Oracle for the Related text.

I did a test and didn't see pair or sequence. Did another test and saw 'pair' in the primary and 'sequence' in the relating hexagram

But I think it is copied from Wiki because it is in the exact order from Wikiwing.

Wherever it's from the querent has not based her answer around it in anyway.

Edited my initial post to say neither the querent's nor radiofreewill's interpretation appears to have anything to do with the actual reading cast as far as I can see.


I'm going to do another test.

Actually seems to vary with the hexagram. 30 didn't have the pair. Weird.

Anyway you are right it is possible it was taken from the online casting tool but it looks to me more like it was taken from Wikiwing because of the font/layout etc etc

Hi Trojina and Moss Elk,

That was my bad, I apologize ~ I should have been clearer about the novel imagery of my reading for BirgitteE.

I was trying to use "Grasping and Dwelling is the cause of Story-telling" to convey the same sense found in WB's line 3 and commentary.

But, but, but...there's just no excuse for my line 5...it's a total non sequitur without adding the image of Heng (duration) as "stamina/perseverance in the witness position."

What makes it good fortune for the female (yin) is that heng lifts the yin up out of the Story to the Witness Position ~ young yang ~ which is the Awareness of the Story.

And, what makes it misfortune for the male (yang) is that accumulated heng causes young yang to become old yang ~ less attentive and more error prone.

Thanks for your patience ~ I'll try to do a better job of coloring between the lines with my readings, and framing the nouveau when I get creative?
