I was just tickled by this a little bit, thought I'd share. :hugs:

Been playing with angel cards, and just figured I'd ask Tao about angels, so I asked:

What are angels to Tao? 22.3>27

Legge: The third line, dynamic, shows its subject with the appearance of being adorned and bedewed with rich favors. But let him ever maintain his firm correctness, and there will be good fortune.

Wilhelm (from Lectures on the I Ching): When form and its meaning penetrate each other completely, when the work of art is rendered totally transparent, this is only a transitory state, which will necessarily pass.

Funny, I always imagined angels to be eternal.. :)

Well ok... They are, but their position and work is transitory because the Children of God eventually come, grow up and assume their position as Heirs to the Creator. Then the Angels after having helped raise humankind as children must serve them as they have their Master the Creator. The reason some of the angels fell is jealousy over having to do this, they would not serve man, they sought to replace man's position as the Heir of God and efforted to dominate humankind as we reached adolescence. Through our long history Humankind has collectively sort of struggled back to that same position now, and is trying to get past it's spiritual adolescence to a place where the evil angels no longer can dominate humankind in general and this world.

As for Tarot, ceremonial Magick teaches there is an Angel or Demon behind each card of the Major Arcana. Tarot can be a very tricky discipline for people who are struggling spiritually I think. Not everyone might want to relate to these entities on a daily basis, and I have had little desire to either. If they want to serve me they may, but if not I am not in the business of binding angels or demons to my purposes - or seeking their knowledge of coming events either. I do not say this in judgement of people who follow such practices as Magick, some have been very successful it is said. But some fail, and I do not think it is at all neccessary.
What I like about the Yi is you are not dealing with Powers and Principalities like that at all, all the forces behind the Yi are benign. I do think there is personality behind the Yi- but I don't think you will find such in any of the long lists of the Heirarchies of Angels and Demons.

It all started out as a typo.
Pythagoras was teaching his students about the sacred angles
and one of his students accidentally wrote that down as angels.
Of course after that people just saw what they wanted to see.

Spoken as a true architect. Can you offer any more on Pythagoras' sacred angles? Sounds interesting.

What are angels to Tao? 22.3>27

The question boggles me. I can't reason how to connect angels to Tao. So many kinds of angels are written of, including celestial aliens (cha! it could happen), so many positions held within so many domains, but I don't connect any directly with the Tao. The Tao says, say good and evil is born. So who would an angel feed, or be nourished by, other than itself?

I'll take a whack at the ball: Do not dismiss angels, but neither glorify them. But then I don't think one person should tell another what they must do.

Again mentioning William Blake. This time for his renderings of angels.

The Angel
From Songs of Experience

I dreamt a dream! What can it mean?
And that I was a maiden Queen
Guarded by an Angel mild:
Witless woe was ne'er beguiled!

And I wept both night and day,
And he wiped my tears away;
And I wept both day and night,
And hid from him my heart's delight.

So he took his wings, and fled;
Then the morn blushed rosy red.
I dried my tears, and armed my fears
With ten thousand shields and spears.

Soon my Angel came again;
I was armed, he came in vain;
For the time of youth was fled,
And grey hairs were on my head.

If you are interested in angelic perspectives, you may enjoy the movie "Wings of Desire." One of my favorite movies for contemplation of the value of this earthly life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYEHl_fV3x0

Well the physical world is filled with beings, and so is the spiritual world. Just like all the creatures here aren't the same, neither are "angels" but we call them all the same thing. I like the imaginary "Division of Trees and Shrubs" cherubs in the movie "Time Bandits." But to live responsibly it is way too distracting to try to live in both worlds, which is why God created hamburgers. Brings your vibrational level down and closes those spiritual senses right up. It's way too traumatic to be completely open spiritually and emotionally in this world anyway, with all the tragedy and pain around us all the time.
