RE: Will I get the job?

Hi all!

Would really appreciate some help here since I cannot seem to understand what the Iching is trying to ask me.

Went for an interview last Friday. It's a big company, and a company I would die to work for because I firmly believe in working for a company that is socially responsible and that the work I do helps some one.

And to cap it all off, I have been out of work for the last 6 months, so well, I would dearly love to have a job soon to pay the bills.

So after the interview, I asked:
Will I get the job with XXX company?
16.6 to 35

Six at the top means:
Deluded enthusiasm.
But if after completion one changes,
There is no blame.

Erm, right. Deluded enthusiasm... Is Iching trying to tell my that I've been too hopeful about my chances with XXX company? Then the line about how if "after completion, one changes, there is no blame". How does the "after completion" applies to this situation? I'm afraid I'm too obtuse to see what that means.

Help please?

I think 16.6 just indicates we may be way over estimating something it terms of benefits to us and its just time to come to earth a little and calm down. Once we have calmed down our inflated expectations we are in a better position to work with whats really there, hence good fortune. I underlined "..i would die to work for" because its likley the 16.6 is asking you to sober up a tad from that enthusiasm....

So does this mean you have the job ? I don't know but if you don't get it you may console yourself it really wasn't worth dieing for according to 16.6 ;) and if you do get it be aware it may not be exactly as you think it will be so take time to check the small print re your conditions and what you are required to do. It may still be fine and somewhere you want to work

I recall a very clear 16.6 experience re a similar situation to yours. An agency offered me a job where i thought I'd be doing one kind of work and i was absolutely thrilled...then I realised, when i stopped jumping around the room, it would be not exactly like that, it would involve a different kind of work...hmm but still it worked out fine. i think the Yi was just saying to cool it a little. Once you have and your're back in touch with whats really going on in the situation then I think thats the change after completion the line mentions. You haven't lost much in the end if you can sober up.

Thank you Trojan. That has made me crack a smile. :) I've been really worried about finding a job these days while watching the figure in my bank account dwindle.

And thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. Yes, maybe I am a little too exuberant and a unrealistic about the job expectations and allowed the brand name to bowl me over.

I still am keeping my fingers cross and hope those guys will give me a call next week. I have also just realise that I don't know how much they are offering me for the job and it didn't occur to me to ask during the interview. Well well, maybe that is what 16.6 is trying to warn me about.

if i would get this hex while i was asking for a job i would say no. imo it tells you to move forward and look for another job. it is hard but that's no other way.
but please keep in mind that i'm not very experienced with iching.

Hey Gato,

Thanks for responding. Really appreciate it. I'm a newbie too and I am extremely unconfident reading my own castings so everyone's opinion will help in my learning and interpretation too.

Hey

I think trojan explained it as good as I could
16 is something I am still better understanding 16.6 to me means.. keep it real..dont let your imagination go to crazy,,but I could be just scaping the surface of the meaning.
but maybe you could ask something like , what is the best way for me to find a job, to get the best results it has a allot do with how you word the question, i guess i just mean getting to the bottom of what you really want to know.
Still working on that one myself as well but am getting better so my answers are more often easier to interperet

Steve

Hello Steve,

Thanks for the response and yes, I'm still mulling over 16.6 after all these while. Somehow, I don't know whether coz my excitement has settled down a little since last Fri and therefore not bouncing off walls with nervous energy or whether it is because 16.6 is starting to sink into me, I don't know.

I mean, after hearing what Trojan, Gato and you have to say about 16.6, I'm starting to rein in my enthusiasm a little and try as best as I can to wait patiently for a call from the company.

Well, thank you all, and I definitely will update you guys when I hear from the company.

Hello Trojan, Gato and Steve,

Just thought thought you might like an update about the situation. Well...

Nothing.

As in, there was no word at all from the company. They said to get back to me in a week's time. When 1.5 weeks have lapsed, I sent a nice email asking how were things going and if they needed additional information. Nothing!! No response, no "thank you but we are still sorting things through", nada.

So Trojan and Steve, I guess you were both right in the sense I should temper my enthusiasm. Coz the company I originally perceived as being big and respectable isn't that nice afterall if they don't even have the courtesy to respond at all, after so long.

And Gato, you're right. After like a month, with my email to them being ignored after the interview, I would say I haven't got the job.

Sigh...

Thanks for telling us what happened :) so few people do. Its valuable because it means when others check out 16.6 in the hexagram index it helps them to see how situations played out...giving us all more understanding of the Yi

it was very rude of them not to let you know when they had said they would. Sheer laziness, it wouldn't have cost them much to simply email you a few words would it !

Yes, I do try to follow up if I can. :)

Coz as mentioned before, I try to learn and improve my understanding of the lines by reading other threads on this forum, see how others interpret same lines, and quite a few threads that discussed about how the same Chinese word can mean different things to shed a different light on the line are all very very enlightening.

So, many a times, when I am reading other's threads, I also do wish that there was a follow up, just to see how Iching's lines actually panned out in real life. Coz yes, I do believe too it helps us all learn. ;)
