using questions rather than coins etc:

there appears to be a focus on values = yin (line 1)
a focus on what could be = yin (line 2)
a focus on you being reactive = yin (response oriented) (line 3)

this gives us the overall issue dealing with concepts of devotion to an other/others. (earth) (behind that devotion is also fear, an underlying total darkness that is 'threatening' ;-))

Extend this trigram questions to a hexagram using IChing Plus methods still gives you earth (hex 2)

(http://pages.prodigy.net/lofting/lofting/x000000.html - click on the hexagram image for another related page)

OR

a focus on facts = yang
on what could be = yin
reactive = yin

the really generic issue deals with concepts of sudden change, enlightenment, awareness, 'new beginning'. (thunder)

BUT - extend this to a hexagram perspective using I Ching Plus methods and you get hexagram 19 - approach.

(http://pages.prodigy.net/lofting/lofting/x000011.html - click on the hexagram image for another related page) - this suggests an approach is possible where the approached will 'defer' to the approachee just as the approachee must 'forget' all any fear ;-)

To get a thunder based *hexagram* the fact focus in the first question here would be changing from fact into values (yang into yin) and so out would come hexagram 24 - return, the light comes back ;-))

These simple questions have to be carefully answered in that there is subtly involved! ;-)

Note that since you ask others to aid you so a focus on integrating (yin) rather than differentiating (yang). This realm of the particular (line 3) has room for change in that there is a change from trying to figure it out for yourself (proactive) to recruitment of others (reactive).

To 'play' with this use http://pages.prodigy.net/lofting/lofting/proact3.html

Chris, this method is so amazing as I never had listened to it till now. I read and re-read this with total interest and amazed by all this new approach but to be honest, as an unprofessional, I dont understand very well the meaning and the nature of answer. In other words, can you clarify it all trying to answer like if you were talking to an unprofessional IChing reader, as I am?
I must say that I am enchanted by this new method and your so innovative approach in the way you answer and focus on the issues of question and situation, but a clarification in more straight and unprofessional words would be really appreciate for me.
I thank you so much if you can still help giving me the clarification I so much need.

Hi Claire,

To start with you need to answer the questions from YOUR perspective. The ordering of the questions reflects how your brain will focus attention and 'think' but at a very general way. It will move from general to particular and so derive a 'meaning' that applies to the situation/question, reflect the general state of psyche etc

For ANY situation/context the ordering is:

Question 1 : Are we dealing with facts (yang) or values (yin).
If unsure then go back in time until you are sure - if the past was facts but now 'not sure' then we are dealing with a situation of facts changing into values. If the past was values but now 'not sure' then we are dealing with a situation of values changing into facts.

Question 2: are we focused on what was/is/will be (yang) or on what could have been/is not/could be (yin) - same methods apply here for the 'unsure' states.

Question 3: this is more particular, more personal, as in are you instigating, differentiating, (yang) or are you responding, integrating (yin). Again the same methods as before apply to the 'unsure' states.

We can ask ANY forms of questions as long as their generic form is like the above and in the above ordering.

Asking three questions limits precision to translating moving-line trigrams into fixed hexagrams. To go 'deeper' to the level of dodecagrams we have to use six questions not three but this three method is quick and easy and gives a good general description of the situation that you the individual can zoom-in upon and deal with.

After some 'practice' you will find you can do all of this 'in your head' and in doing so learn the patterns of the I Ching as a whole. From there, if you want, comes six questions and so moving-line hexagrams etc, more 'depth' ;-)

SO, to aid you requires you to answer the questions as 'honestly' as possible ;-) I gave my set of possible interpretations but what are YOUR answers to the questions? - or go back and look at what I came up with and see which one 'resonates' the most with you.

you can use the webpage to do it for you (http://pages.prodigy.net/lofting/lofting/proact3.html) - just give us the results to analyse further.
