Hi clarity friends,

I recently started having a recurring dream theme of being in prison/imprisoned over the past week or so. The setting is sometimes more "prison-y" and sometimes looks more like my current apartment or the home I grew up in. This theme is new for me in the dreamscape and I've never been jailed or imprisoned in my life. However, I have recently moved to the city I grew up in (never expecting to) and though a lot of good stuff is happening here the onus is on me to make do with what I have and build something new if I want to go further.

I asked yi: "Why am I having to many dreams of being in prison/imprisoned?"

It responds: 43.1.3 ----> 47

As often does these two lines seem somewhat diametrically opposed to one another when taken in tandem. As I mentioned I moved back to the city I grew up in and sometimes have the sense it is a "small pond" with few options to create what I desire. 43.1 says "...going without overcoming them. acting this way is a mistake" which leads me to believe that whatever sense of imprisonment I have is temporary and to try to overcome that sense (potentially of childhood trauma which there was a LOT of here as I grew up). 43.3 seems to say to leave and re-enforce the sense of being imprisoned, hence my confusion. The changed hexagram being 47 is almost A PRISON so I'm both amazed and completely scratching my head.

Clarity friends, interpret these dreams and readings as you will! I hope you find it as interesting as I do.

Hi OdinLucky,

Why am I having to many dreams of being in prison/imprisoned?
43.1.3 > 47

43.1 says that power in the toes (ie going somewhere) without being able to bear it, leads to mistakes.
43.3 describes someone whose words are ineffective, and who walks alone and is criticised.
And 47 as you said very much looks like a prison (困, a tree inside an enclosure).

I believe you feel imprisoned because you returned to your hometown. Your prison = the home where you grew up = your current appartment = the city where you got hurt so much at childhood. You haven't overcome it, you can't bear it, and you're internally anxious that you've made a mistake to go there again. You feel alone, and that you have to defend yourself against others. The hidden line 28.3 speaks of a very heavy burden. That city doesn't sound like a good place for you...

Dreams of imprisonment are common in children who have experienced severe trauma, and in children with mothers who had borderline personality disorder ( an ongoing trauma).
It's never too late to 'call out' , unmask the past....or to get free of an inwardly perceived imprisonment

I agree with diamanda, that you feel misunderstood(by friends, family?) and consequently alone.
Add to that limited possibilities as you say and I think it's no wonder that your subconscious shows you a prison cell. "I'm not moving anywhere .. and I don't see any way to escape".

Maybe you thought it would be easy to return and start doing something (.1) and you did that although some people advised against it (.3). The result is 47.
Curiously 43 does speak of a home-town, and resolution to change/make a breakthrough.

47, Wilhelm: Thus the superior man stakes his life On following his will.
I think you can overcome this, if you are really serious. 43.3 also says no blame, walks alone, encounters rain(deliverance).

I don't have anything to say about the reading you got.. But you should look into Carl Jungs' dream theory and check out some of his books.. According to his theories your dreams have got something to do with the Puer Aeturnus Archetype, at least that's what i have understood from reading his books..

But do have a look into it,..\

Cheers and Godspeed
