Relationship 36.1.4 to 62

My boyfriend and I have been through a bad patch. I don't trust him, half because I don't have great self esteem, half because he isn't an honest transparent guy.
He is behaving strangely, as if something is on his mind but he is afraid to say it. I asked the iching what he wants to say to me, and it gave me Hexagram 36 with changing lines 1 and 4, and future hexagram 62. I don't fully understand, although I'm smart enough to know it doesn't look good.

I asked what he feels for me, and it gave me 57.5 changing to 18. That's even less of a clear one to me.

Some quick thoughts.

Obviously a bad situation to be in. Without trust something has to give. So, aside from the I Ching I'd sit down and have a long, reasonable talk with your boyfriend before you do anything else. Fear and lack of trust need to be dispersed.

Generally, I think the Yi often tends to reflect questions back on yourself when you ask about others. Not always, perhaps, but much of the time. So, you could say that 36 and the lines indicate doubts and hardship where no communication is getting through. As it stands not much is going to be resolved if you keep it all to yourself. You can choose to ride the bad patch out and hide your light or get it all out into the open. It depends how often this happens, whether it's rare or a frequent problem which is asking to be addressed.

Whether this is about how he feels or the feelings behind the question, 57.5>18 seems to show that being open and sincere, going from unconscious to conscious and bringing hidden thoughts and influences into the light is the way to go. But it's all in the approach - easy does it. Communicate and understand. Then you can move forward to resolution - whatever that might be.

Others may have a different take on it.
