I am not familiar with Thomas Cleary's two I Ching translations, but I know many people use them. Here is a write-up about him, from his publishers, Shambhala Publications.

....Thomas Cleary (1949-2021) was the most prolific translator of Asian Classics of our time, translating and introducing over eighty works from Chinese, Japanese, Sanskrit, Pali, Bengali, Arabic, and Old Irish ....

You can also read more about his two Yi translations: TheTaoist I Ching and The Buddhist I Ching.

Also - for those who are interested in reading some from his translations, James DeKorne's Gnostic Book of Changes (I Ching) Website (with multiple Yi translations) includes 'Cleary 1' and 'Cleary 2' which I assume are from his two translations.

Best, D

Thomas Cleary was a door opener for numerous people, not only in the Yijing Studies, but in Daoism too. I have great respect for him.
