Seemingly trivial but has bothered me - help please?

Last night the person I'm hoping to get closer to came round unexpectedly. I'd just got out of the bath so I had wet hair and no make up on ( I was dressed though) This doesn't sound so important but I have a skin condition that I usually keep covered up with prescription make up. He's seen me without make up before but last night he seemed to be quite shocked. It wasn't comfortable at all - it was like he was reluctant to look at me.
He's not usually a shallow person so I'm a bit confused by the situation.

I consulted the i ching and asked

No just don't really know what to make of the reading. Clearly the reading is to do with appearance (22) and how its received (2) but I've a feeling the Yi is just kind of mirroring the question back to you...you're asking how your appearance was received.

Wanted to respond as i feel for your plight but couldn't see much useful to say

I think the first line of 2 represents the situation of your condition.noticable signs that need to be concealed before they overwhelm you.If you conceal them with make up the situation is under control.line three is hiding and concealment,intresting vanity is mentioned.Perhaps the sixth line refers to truth or falseness .I feel he has to accept your condition as this is who you really are.Your beauty is not external but internal.I would say that for external purposes when you wear make up you are beautiful.But its not your real beauty.If it matters that you have to mask your real beauty with false beauty-makeup, maybe the lines make sense.Hope this helps.

Another thought is i find 22 often to be around matters of inconsequence. Maybe it doesn't really matter all that much that he saw you. Maybe nothing much changes. No faux pas but the way you worded your question was odd, well it seems that way to me.

The first line does show that he was kind of disconcerted by your appearance the other night which may still be nagging away at him but carry on as normal to lull any doubts that he may have and let him sort the situation in his mind out alone.

I do, to the point of paranoia - I usually put the make up on before my first cup of tea. This was at 9 o clock at night when I was wasn't expecting anyone and had just got out of the bath.

Thing is, if I'm going to have a relationship with anyone (not solely him) it's not going to be practical to not let them see me with no make up on. That's what's confusing me about the reading - if it's saying things will only go well when I've got make up on.....

Maybe I'm making more of it than it really is. Maybe I'm being arrogant in assuming it would change anything as he doesn't see me in that way anyway. Heavens above - I'm analysing myself into a hole here

What situation exactly? Surely what you really wanted to know was how he felt about seeing you in the raw. Afterall, his thoughts and feelings will determine what action he will take in the coming days and weeks.
