I cannot presently travel to the country where I recently received an inheritance from my deceased father. My father never left a will. By law only me and my sister have rights to my father's estate. My sister is handling things but because I'm not able to be there I am being taken advantage of. I have to depend on the lawyer and my sister. I am not there to sign relevant legal documents.

Should I trust GV the lawyer to help me with my father's estate?
hexagram 43 lines 1,3,4 changing into hexgram 29

What will happen if I give power of attorney over my inheritance to GV?

hexaagram 12 lines 2,5,6 changing into hexagram 40

Will the lawyer GV help me with my inheritance?
Hexagram 36 lie 2 changing into hexagram 11

PLEASE THIS IS AN URGENT MATTER!!!!:weep:

43.1.3.4 > 29

Your castings contain hexagrams that are often considered negative, but Bradford's thread is against such interpretation. Do you have evidence that you are not being treated fairly? Your sister may feel that she is entitled to more of the estate than you are because she took care of father in his last days, but the law (as I know it) does not see things that way. Your father's estate should be appraised, you should be informed of its value, and you should know well in advance the approximate value of your share. Taxes must be paid, the lawyer paid for services, and also any debts your father left. For your peace of mind, you should ask for copies of any documents filed with the court. I think 43.1.3.4 > 29 is a good casting in this situation.

43 The Judgement

Break-through. One must resolutely make the matter known
At the court of the king.
It must be announced truthfully. Danger.
It is necessary to notify one's own city.
It does not further to resort to arms.
It furthers one to undertake something.

The lawyer will be filing papers with the court.

Thank you. The lawyer will be doing all that you mention. My mind never went that my sister feels entitled to more!!!! My father had dementia at the end of his life. My sister had more contact with my father and he depended on her for everything because they live in the same country for no other reason. She had a nurse taking care of him at the end. I had daily contact with him even when he was bad. I live in Canada.

I was treated unfairly by my sister. She never sent me money to come down when he was in hospital she never told me about it. She had alot of time to prepare me.She just called me to tell me he died. I could not afford to make the trip. He was going to pay for my expenses. I begged my sister to send me the money to come help her out and she would ignore me. Because of my sister I was not able to attend my father's funeral. She was in charge of his finances! I lived in another country I could not be there. Plans were made for me to bring him to Canada where he is a citizen to share the responsibility. I was going to take care of him as well but my sister was against it. It was against her financial interests.

The lawyer told me everything will be divide evenly. I told my sister take everything I just want to come down and bury my father. She was in a hurry to bury him. She did not give me time. I do not want to reveal personal and private information in order to get assistance on this site. Tom you hit on it and it helped thank you.

I still do not know if I should trust the lawyer?? Me and my sister have the same family lawyer. Thanks!!

After your reply. I asked:

How will things turn out between me and my sister?

hexagram 27 line 4 changing into hexagram 21.

Legal procedures???

Will we take each other to court or does it show the court procedures for my father's estate. I feel she is trying to scam me out of my share. She now has access to all his bank books and can easily take money out while I'm out of the country. I've contacted the lawyers to freeze his accounts until I come but cannot tell them that I suspect my sister.

I did it because she would not give me clear answers and she would not cooperate with me. She avoided my phone calls. I had to get a lawyer to protect my inheritance rights because she was not giving me information and cooperating. I also do not know the laws and language of the country where my father left his estate like my sister does..

I wanted to reply yesterday, but it was too late and i was too tired.

In my opinion, You've asked two yes/no (tricky) questions, and the third question was more appropriate.
Let's start with tricky ones.

Should I trust GV the lawyer to help me with my father's estate?
43.1.3.4 (Separation) -> 29 (Danger/Trap)

Here the oracle says: "Well i don't know should you do this or not, but let me tell you something. If you go your separate way, i mean alone without the lawyer, you will get in dangerous situation, in a trap".

Let's read the lines(Wilhelm):
1. Powerful in forward-marching toes. If one goes and is not equal to the task, one makes a mistake.
--
Probably you can't just do it by yourself, alone.

3. To be powerful in the cheekbone brings misfortune. The noble is firmly decided. He walks alone and is caught in the rain. He is splashed and people complain about him. No error.
You decided that the lawyer is against you, you go alone and you get caught in the "rain".
--
I think it's not good either.

4. There is no skin on his thighs, and walking is difficult. If one can be led like a sheep, remorse would dwindle. But if these words are heard, no-one will believe them.
In Huang's book line 4 says: Walking a goat in penitence (gesture of humility and surrender).
--
Again, if only you would stop resisting, you will be ok, but you don't want to listen.

So all the lines are telling you what will happen if you go alone.
--------------------

Will the lawyer GV help me with my inheritance?
36.2 (Darkening of the light) -> 11 (Peace)

Now the I-Ching says: "Well, if you get out of his way, if you hide your light for a while, then you will get Peace"
(Wilhelm)
In social intercourse one should not try to be all-knowing. One should let many things pass, without
being duped.

Line 2:
Darkening of the light injures him in the left thigh.
He gives aid with the strength of a horse.
Good fortune.
--
I think the lawyer might scheme off some money but all-in-all it would be ok.
As a result you get Peace, Hex 11 belongs to the first month (February-March):
The small departs,
The great approaches.
Good fortune. Success.
--
You might loose something, but you will get more in return. And i think this process will be over by February.

Now the more appropriate question
What will happen if I give power of attorney over my inheritance to GV?
12.2.5.6 (Standstill) -> 40 (Liberation\ Letting loose)

Line 2. They bear with and suffer; this signifies good fortune for the common people. The standstill helps the great man to achieve success.
--
By his willingness to suffer personally he insures the success of his fundamental principles.
--
Yes you may suffer a little, but it will be good in a long term.

5. The standstill is decreasing. To the great man, good fortune! 'What if it failed, what it it failed'. Hence he binds it to a bundle of mulberry shoots.
--
All is going well, but you might feel anxious. Just wait.

6. The standstill ends. First standstill, then good fortune!

Result - Hex 40 - Here the movement goes out of the sphere of danger. The obstacle has been
removed, the difficulties are being resolved.

I think that question and answer sets the mood for the whole situation.

How will things turn out between me and my sister?
27.4 (Nourishment) -> 21 (Biting through)

4th line refers to one occupying a high position and striving to let his light sine forth.
To do this he needs helpers, because he cannot attain his lofty aim alone.
With the greed of a hungry tiger he is on the lookout for the right people.
Since he is not working for himself but for the good of all, there is no wrong in such zeal.
--
Describes you and your lawyers trying to get your share.

And hex 21 is about biting through obstruction, both Wilhelm and Huang speak of invoking the law, yes.

Thunder and lighting:
The image of BITING THROUGH.
Thus the kings of former times made firm the laws
Through clearly defined penalties.

Also i had a thought about you and your sister representing the lips in hex 27, and the obstruction (legal matters?) keeps you separated.

I think the IC is focusing on your immediate future here, on the legal matters only.
If you are interested in your relationship in the long run, you should maybe rephrase the question.

Dear ashteroid OMG!Thank you so much!!!! I wish I could analyze the I Ching the way you just did! It never crossed my mind of what could happen if I went alone at it but was thinking of it and the I Ching picked up on my thoughts. That was really impressive. OMG! I can't get over your analysis. Since I cannot do anything without an estate lawyer and did not want to find someone I did not know (he was also my father's lawyer) I was in a great dilemma. I'm alone with this.

OK ok will call lawyer to send me relevant paperwork to the consulate in Canada to sign and get things moving..

I'm glad you mention February/March I was also wondering when would be a good time to fly down.

I'd like to comment on this one point because it is the source of hurt feelings. I do not know how similar the laws in your home country are to the laws here. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that your sister would have been legally able to sent you money from your father's estate in order for you to travel to his funeral. At the moment of death, the estate of the deceased becomes the property of the court. If anyone takes money from a bank account without the permission of the court, it is a crime. Nothing can be done with estate money until a death certificate is filed with the court and an executor has been sworn in, which takes days. It seems reasonable that since you are inheriting you would be able to use some of this money to travel to the funeral, but the law does not permit it. It would have been better if your sister explained this to you, but most people do not understand how courts works. I think the family lawyer will do well. You are fortunate that such a person is present.

Thank you Tom it's a blessing to have people who care even if strangers on this site.
What you say is true and procedures are already under way. The lawyers have put my mind at ease. Estate will be divided equally. He left us millionaires. We are shocked. He had 2 pensions from Canada and Greece. He held a high position in royal airforce. He had given my sister cash to cover hospital and funeral and my travel expenses. She apologized. She ran out she said.

Hello again, I've finally signed power of attorney took awhile for lawyers to revise according to my specifications. I'm at the stage of handing it over to them but holding back. Once they have it I'm at their mercy. They will have total power over my deceased father's estate and this is scary for me. It means they will be able too withdraw funds from bank accounts.

Unfortunately I need legal representation because there is no will. I cannot just go to the bank and just take out the money even though I'm entitled to it as next of kin. I did a casting for reassurance.

Question: What will the consequences be for me if I give power of attorney to GV?

Hexagram 39 lie 3 and 6 into hexagram 20

I can never completely figure out hexagram 20. This is my take on the casting. Line 3 is telling me I'm afraid of going forward with it because I don't want to give myself problems. Line 6 is telling me but I have no choice in the matter if I want to overcome the obstacles and difficulties. To proceed on my own will lead to trouble (John Blofeld) It is to my best interests to see a person of noble character and authority and submit myself to them (my lawyer is like that a very charitable man). Blofeld - seek advise from someone of high moral standards and profound wisdom (my lawyer is that person head of legal dept at university and global recognition as a lawyer). I need to consult people who are in a position to help me and whose responsibility and duty it is to offer me the relevant valuable information and knowledge concerning my situation which I can profit from. It's to my interest to do it.

Hexgram 20 - true the ablution has been performed. The first step has been taken. I signed at consulate notary the POA but I have not made the sacrifice yet. I have not completed the ritual or process in my case. I have not mailed it to my lawyer yet. This sentence in the commentary is interesting and gives me the advise I need. Sincerity inspires respect. I have been honest with him and he appreciates it he told me. I can revoke the POA anytime I want.

ok ok looks good but does it show my inner desire and hope that my lawyer is that kind of person. Or do I have to ask a second question. What kind of person is my lawyer?

I would appreciate some imput on this.

I also asked: Under the present circumstances is it to my interests to give Power of Attorney to lawyer in Greece GV?

Hexagram 2 line 6 into hexagram 23

Merry Christmas everyone

What will the consequences be for me if I give power of attorney to GV?
39.3.6(Obstruction) -> 20 (Observing)

Wilhelm, hex 39:
One must join forces with friends of like mind and put himself under the leadership of a man equal to the situation: then one will succeed in removing the obstacles. This requires the will to persevere just when one apparently must do something that leads away from his goal. This unswerving inner purpose brings good fortune in the end.

Lines 3 and 6 confirm your interpretation that you shouldn't go alone, see the great man - your lawyer.

I think hex 20 means take the position of an observer, climb to the top of the tower and watch the events unfold. Also Wilhelm and Legge speak of a pause in the sacrificial ritual, I think it says: Have faith in the future, like a worshiper does, he believes that the sacrifice will bring him more than he is letting go of now.

Under the present circumstances is it to my interests to give Power of Attorney to lawyer in Greece GV?
2.6(The Receptive) -> 23 (Splitting apart)

Again, hex 2 tells you to be passive, yield to the will of fate, follow along.
Line 6, Wilhelm:
In the top place the dark element should yield to the light. If it attempts to maintain a position to which it is not entitled and to rule instead of serving, it draws down upon itself the anger of the strong.

The 6th yin line(you) should yield to the yang line (the lawyer).

Hex 23 also speaks of being passive during this time.
Wilhelm: The lines of the hexagram present the image of a house, the top line being the roof, and because the roof is being shattered the house collapses.

I wouldn't take it as a negative sign, it just speaks of the division of your father's estate(house).

Merry Christmas to you

Thank you ashteroid I reread all my posts and your responses. Thank you for your patience. I noticed I've been asking the same kind of question over and over bad habit of mine LOL. ok ok priority post signed power of attorney :) And let events unfold naturally. I even mentioned to my sister about my readings and the time frame Feb/March and she was happy happy. We've run out of money with the funeral expenses and monument at cemetary etc... My poor sister is depressed because I'm not there to support her in this and I'm frantic because I'm not there to be with her. My mom is real bad as well. I have to be with them and doing my best.

Hello again,

I'm going to lose my mind until this saga with my father's estate is put in order. I don't trust anyone involved in the process. I have no control over matters because there is no Will. I'm at the mercy of the court system and banks. There is alot of corruption in that country. I need to know if I'll be able to eventually withdraw the money from my father's bank accounts. All I'm being told is that it's a long process without a will and it could take up to 6 months. I read the law it takes 60 days to open up funds without a will if I'm next of kin with a certificate of inheritance and letter of administration from probate court. I don't know who and what to believe anymore. I'm afraid if I wait too long all will be lost.

I asked: What is the outlook for me to be able to eventually withdraw money from my father's bank accounts?

Hexagram 58 lines 2,4,5 changing into hexagram 24 turn up.

Line 5 warns of a sycophant. Oh great! that's all I need! I hope it's just showing my fears and not a real person.

Can someone please tell me what they make of this. Thank you.

hi,

Just read this thread . We have something in common. I'm sorry for your loss- lost my father too a month ago and.. I have to deal with the greek system too as i live in greece.

Haven't read carefully your post, but i feel you need to calm down a bit. I'm not sure if greek or canadian laws is those apply in your situation, but if it Greek , then you need to "accept" the heritage, pay the taxes and then you can have access to his/your properties and bank accounts.

that there is no will , its not really a problem. By law, his belongings goes to children and wife. You all , just have to pay an additional tax for the distribution - that's all. has nothing to do with titles.

have to go now but will read again explain some points.

Giasou Anemos,

Thank you for replying. It's great that you live in Greece and can help me understand better. I'm sorry for your loss. My father died in Athens the inheritance falls under Greek laws. I've also signed a power of attorney for lawyers to deal with inheritance matters as me and my sister do not know where to go and how to fill out forms etc.

From what you said now I understand why lawyer keeps telling me I have to pay somekind of taxe first. We don't have money to pay for taxes. First we have to get money from deceased father's bank accounts to pay for anything. I don't understand good Greek or know legal terms and he talks to me like I'm a lawyer and I know the process hahaha.

I'm sorry to say that, but "somekind of taxes" is an understatement. That is the main issue you have to deal with. No taxes - no havings.

don't know what to say more. Either your lawyer haven't explain you clearly or there are misunderstandings. Your panic is not very clear to me. You sound lost and helpless and the situation is not like that. Its a long procedure, lots of papers etc but you can always check things - or your sister.

You have more power than you assume so above all procedures , relax and calm down is #1.

goooooood luck

What is the outlook for me to be able to eventually withdraw money from my father's bank accounts?
58.2.4.5(Joy) -> 24 (Return)

Don't let your emotions carry you away from inner joy, return to your plan.

Michael Daniels writes:
Line 2. A sincere and contented person has no regrets. (stay positive)
Line 4. Decision is difficult. Choose higher pleasures. (choose either hope or fear, and stick with your plan)
Line 5. Beware of corrupting influences. (your fears and anxiety, banish them from your mind)

Transitional method gives:
style="width: 700px; border-width: 0;" align="left" class="cms_table_outer_border"
|-
| 3.5 →
| 24
| ↑
|-
| 17.4 →
| 3 (Arduous beginnings)
| ↑
|-
| 58.2 →
| 17 (Accepting guidance)
| ↑

58.2 -> 17 Accept the guidance of your lawyers.
Reverse line is 17.2->58, Legge: Shows us one who cleaves to the little boy, and lets go the man of age and experience. Please don't go after an inexperienced boy. (fears)

17.4 -> 3, Wilhelm: Following creates success. Perseverance brings misfortune. To walk the way with truthfulness brings clarity. How could that be an error?
Hex 3 says: One should undertake nothing. It is advantageous to employ assistants.
Reverse line, 3.4->17, Legge says: Shows (its subject as a lady), the horses of whose chariot appear in retreat. She seeks, however, (the help of) him who seeks her to be his wife. Advance will be fortunate; all will turn out advantageously.
You are the lady that needs help, and the lawyer wants to help you (don't know about the wife part :) ).
Accept his help and move together.

3.5 -> 24, Legge:
Shows the difficulties in the way of (its subject's) dispensing the rich favours that might be expected from him. With firmness and correctness there will be good fortune in small things; (even) with them in great things there will be evil.
You have to pay taxes, even if you find it difficult. The money then will return to you (24).

Also the 58.5 leading to 54, indicates this (Crowley, h54): Don't start with the carriage in front of the horse.
Taxes first, money later.

Hi Tom,

Its about 4%

Tom thanks I looked up the link. It was very helpful. Just to clear things up with the confusion. This is not a normal situation. My father was a recluse and isolated. He had a serious mental health illness. He had total control over his money not us. He would not listen to reason. He was suspicious of everyone.

Me and my sister are in the dark because my father was very secretive with his assets. We had many problems with him because of his mental health issues the last ten years of his life. You cannot imagine. We tried to help him on a daily basis but he would not understand or cooperate with us. We wanted to put him in a nursing home for better care and he would refuse. We tried everything. He would not let go and give us authorization to handle his finances and give him a better life. We are traumatized from this. There is nothing worse than seeing a parent suffer from mental illness. He was strong willed. He would spit out his medication. He would get violent and abusive with the caregivers. He would constantly change the locks on the front door because he suspected everyone of stealing.

He was also not able to speak clearly because of a severe stroke at the end of his life. He asked to be with my mom when he was dying and we took him to her. My mom is still in shock. My parents are divorced and my poor mom had to contribute from her pension to give him a decent burial. She had no idea about his condition. It's a very very difficult emotional time for all of us. My poor mother cannot get over the state she found him in. Her health is not good either. Me and my sister are worried about her. My father would not inform us of his financial situation. He did not want to give us authority to help him.

We had to pay for the funeral expenses and medical fees from our savings. The lawyer knew about my father's condition and what we've been through and this is why I gave him power of attorney over my father's estate. The lawyer will be doing a thorough investigation with all the banks in Greece.

How long does this process take? The lawyer says about 6 months.

cornucopia,

do you have any other relatives in Greece so they can help your sister ? You both need a notary, an accountant and a lawyer; each of them has a lots to do... its a complicate procedure especially if there are a lots of properties.

4% is what you have to pay because there is no will. The inheritance tax its another one. First 150.000 are tax free, then it goes 1%, 5% and the rest above 600.000 are taxed for 10%. Besides the house/s building everything inside is taxed too ( another tax) ....

You need to inform the organization that gives the pension because everything you have received after his passing you have to return it.

6 months its what they say but if you need more time , depending on the reasons , you can ask. If there is a family lawyer or accountant or notary, ask for their help. Usually they know the history of the belongings and affairs and they can be a great assistance.

Now, if you talk about something simpler , for instance a bank account and a house , then things are much easier.

I'm sorry everyone. This is too painful for me to discuss further. I just want everything to be cleared up and for his tormented soul to rest in peace. My father was in the airforce. He was a good educated hardworking man who loved his children above all in life and who slowly lost his mind and became a different person.

Hello Anemos, I'm still crying over my poor father. I depend on the lawyers for everything. In the power of attorney "plirexousio" which was signed by me at Canadian consulate the law firm noted for me to give them power to work jointly with others. I don't have the resources to go to Greece and stay there for a long time. We have to do an investigation. It's just bank accounts and his home and a piece of land. We don't know what he has done with the banks. He kept opening and closing bank accounts in his lost state. The bank managers and lawyer knew about his condition and what we were going through and they have been very helpful.
