Sexual potential of a relationship - hex 12 moving to 1?

Dear All,

This has me a baffled! The question is about the guy I have a strong connection with, but I have too much going on right now to pursue any further contact with him. He has no way of getting in touch with me, so any further contact is up to me (he runs an arts shop I have recently discovered - and boy, have I got a lot more into the bargain than a potential wall hanging ). Life...!

So, asked about my sexual potential with him, and got hex 12 lines 1, 2, AND 3 moving to hex 1!... Hex 1, if interpreted as potential outcome, is good news ; hex 12 given my current position, I kinda get - but what's with the lines?

Ok Ms Hooligan I'm replying to this because you asked me to although it's kind of baffling with that 1 lurking next to 12. (It's like having your foot on the brake and the gas pedal at the same time). Just want to say that in my experience (and others on this forum if I remember other threads of long ago rightly) 51 is the sex hex par excellance!!

Anyway, the 1 depends on whether you read it as a modifier/context or future development. It could be you and your lust or a potential action in other words. However, those lines don't look like they're going too far for now at least. But it doesn't seem a permanent state of affairs.

I think that if you really want to ravish this poor unsuspecting artshop owner (is he unsuspecting at this point?) then you might have to play the game a bit so to speak - success comes from not pursuing it at this point. It seems to be saying hang in there enjoy the person (as opposed to his body) and let him give you the green light before you blow your cover and let your hormones loose on him. I ching sounding like my mother!

On a more personal note, (as opposed to line reading) magic word chemistry (that's where I get my 51s). I'll admit I often (very accurately) ask the iching what do you think of X (it's a wee bit like a reference) but then I lay off the ching for these things because you end up over thinking what should be naturally evolving.

Anyway if I'm right about the 12 stuff (and yes your current situation of being busy with other things is probably part of that) that gives you time to sus him out no? You might discover 'things' and change your mind! Meanwhile, (let out clause) you may get differing views in the morning when others log on.

Thanks for your input - is has clarified a lot.

Lucia - I love the analogy between the I Ching and what one's mum would say The energy of both the brakes and the gas pedal on is a genius way to interpret this difficult hex 12 with so many lines. I just have too many things on at the moment family-wise, including going through a very unpleasant divorce - otherwise Mr Shop Owner would be seeing a lot more of me! Although I'm afraid he's far from unsuspecting - the guy is one of those Latin Americans who possess a very fiery, penetrating stare - all without managing to appear sleazy or desperate (and how many British men could do that?) I AM planning to play the game and get to know him better - thankfully, a friend of mine has a shop in the same shopping arcade!

Willowfox - yep, it does feel he's the one to give me a good run for my money!

The key here is to hold back and yet persevere. One significant concept in hexagram 12 is waiting for the situation to improve. We don't try to take the bull by the horns here, but look to the signs. In line three, we notice that there is a turn for the better, but not until you have experienced the first two lines?

From a non I ching perspective. What is it you are REALLY trying to achieve here. It sounds like you want a one night stand, almost, but I don't believe you do. Get it clear in your own mind what you really want. Sex is different to men, generally, than it is to women. And if a woman truly wants a one night stand, it requires little more than asking. Although, granted, if you do, he might take a somewhat dim view of what kind of woman you really are. But what the hey? You got what you wanted. Something else is going on here, which you need to delve into a little deeper. Then I think you will understand the meaning on your own.

Are you by any chance a fortune teller - yes, you're spot on. It's love at first sight like I haven't experienced in about 10 years - it's just that I tend to make light of things that REALLY get to me.I feel like I have met my match, no more, no less. I had asked about my potential with him before, and got hex 63 line 6 moving to hex 37. Didn't seem very exciting to me, so THEN I asked about the sexual potential as seen in this thread.

It is also seriously bad timing, given all the crap I have to deal with before I can even think of approaching him. Unless I should go and approach him anyway?

The connection was really there - but it is so impractical to pursue it right now. Or could you advise a question I should put to the I Ching for that? One thing I have to say, the IC is never wrong, no matter what.

I don't consider myself a fortune teller. I just get a sixth sense about things often when I see a reading like this. I work more in the area of seeing where a person is coming from than just a straight answer.

in terms of the timing, yeah, I understand. Of course Christmas time can be incredibly bad timing for anything except buying gifts for the family, but the I Ching teaches us about cycles, and everything cycles around. I just get the feeling you have to wait for the right time to cycle around. Hexagram 11 and 12 are highly suggestive of cycles coming and going. Sometimes waiting is hard, but it is the best thing. As an example, what happens when a man shows an interest too quickly? We often have to hold back until the time is right. Not so true for a woman, not as much anyway, but we still have to recognize the cycles.

Have you seen anything at all that would suggest there might be chemistry on his side?

Hi Gene,

Yes - there's definitely chemistry on his part. He is the first person in about 10 years who looked me in the eye in such a way, I felt like he was looking straight into my soul.

I'm not much of a romantic and would normally be quite sceptical about "soul connections", I'm also a real flirt, but with him the dynamic was very different: I did not flirt with him at all, just let him stare me in the eyes and experienced a gut feeling that "I have met my match". Once again, I haven't even mentioned this to my friends, it's so out of my character, they would think I've gone bonkers!!!
