Hello all,
I would like to hear your opinion on the hexagrams i got after posing my question, but first i want to give u guys a bit of background information...

For more than six months i have been thinking about spending my savings on a bike for a specific type of endurance racing. Mine is a bit old and shabby, but it still works. Since last year I am taking part in really long races that require a lot of mental strenght and physical endurance. And of course a fast bike. So far I was hesitating with the purchase, I want to go for a second hand bike anyways, because a new one is too costly. I have been lending money to family relatives now and my savings got thinner but still i could afford a bike, i think, but I am still not sure. The thing bothering me is do not know how long I will be able to manage my time to be able to compete at such long races, but I love this sport. Therefore I am also thinking if i should spend my money on this bike.
So i tossed the coins with the question, shall I go and get the new bike and will it pay off also in longterm? And i got 42 changing into 24....

I thing the 42 is about me lending my savings and helping others out, and that now it is time to spend some money on myself. the 24 says maybe that i should not be in a hurry, wait a little and maybe i will get a good bike offer soon... what do u guys read from the hexagrams ? thanks for all advice and hints...

42>24....so that's 42.5.6>24

The yang change pattern here is hexagram 20, that's the pattern the changing lines make...so this is something you are considering. The yin change pattern (where all change lines are yin) is 34, great strength.

I'm looking at these for extra help because of course the 2 change lines say quite different things. 42.5 shows your kindness 42.6 shows the point where you veer off into more superficiality that isn't helpful or satisfying for anyone....42.6 is a bit 'grabby' with little satisfaction in the end.

Hmm the answer seems to direct you back on yourself (hex 24) to have a good think about your priorities. There may still be something that hasn't quite come into view yet, a factor you need to consider...and although you can by the bike, the 34 change pattern also suggests you use your power to buy as it were only in accordance with what is right for you on all levels.

Hey this is a waffly answer I'm giving you for such a straightfoward question ....but the thing is I think you need to think some more. The 42.6 is cause for thought....you might buy it and actually in time realise it wasn't the right thing, that it was a whimsical buy or not as necessary as you thought or that you really needed to use the money elsewhere.

However I hate to suggest you don't get something you clearly want and deserve to have since you have been so good to your family......and yet this isn't a straight forward decision.

I think on balance i agree with you. Don't rush out and get anything expensive, wait a little till the right bike shows up....definately don't go chasing anything that seems all bright and shiny for the sake of it.

Others may see this differently

I'm so sorry but if it was my reading I would see it as a waste of money. You buy it then you change your mind about the sport. ... Or get sick of it!

It will be a pretty accessory without much utility (in the long run). Seems like you either get busy, hurt, or just sick of the sport after a while!

Something pretty with not much use.

hi all,
well its been a while since i asked this question, and i thought i should maybe leave a message about things are at the moment... i have very little time - due to bad weather, too much work, and illnesses to ride my old bike, so even if i had bought the new one, it would be of little use... currently i put the purchase off my "to do list" since i have so much other work to do ... i am waiting to see how things will turn up later in the summer..so u all were right... thank you once more.. it's very thoughtful of you to come back and tell us what happened. I wish everyone would do this. All these threads can be found through the Search hexagram index so in giving an update of what happened it benefits all the people that will look for help with this particular answer in future.

Hello
so its been a while since we had this conversation about me wanting to get a special bike and not being sure if to get it or not. In mean time my health and other circumstances that prevented me from buying the bike have changed. I am a lot more stable and I am thinking again - shall I get the new bike finally? I asked i ching two weeks ago and I got hex. 55 - Abundance. So I was like - hurray, maybe its fine now to get it. But I am still a bit unsure. I have never spent so much money on buying anything, I always rather invested money in something like education and travelling - simply things i thought are benefitial in the long term, help me to grow in manyuseful ways. I even got a really good offer now to get a good value fo rmoney bike. But I having still this insecure guilty feeling, if to get the bike or no. So I asked I ching, shall I really get it? and I got answer hex 54.2 (dissaffection) - changing into 51. I would really like to hear your opion on this...I understand this as that 54.2 is describing my insecure guilty feelings, however the changing line 2 is maybe pointing towards not geting the bike. What I do not get, what is the 51 trying to tell me - the outcome. But maybe i am wrong... Thank you for your insight on this :) Much warmth. Evas
