Hi,

I'm in a situation where I have gathered the necessary funds to get a loan and move out from my parents house. However, I am only able to afford pretty lackluster small apartments in not so interesting neighborhood.
So I asked the Iching 2 questions:
Should I get a loan and buy a small place now? - 48 unchanging - The Well
Should I invest my money again - 14.2>30 - Possession in Great Measure >The Clinging

Please share your thoughts,
Thank you!

Hello;

first of all, it's good that you can buy an apartment, even a very small one in the cheapest neighborhoods. I moved out of my parents' house last summer and even can't think about buying an apartment as it needs far, far more money than what I have+ what I can collect in coming years if I work hard :)
I understand why you aren't excited about living in those neighborhoods of course.

now the readings:
Should I get a loan and buy a small place now? - 48 unchanging
The loan is a "well", a source you can use. If you don't find the small place satisfying that's another story. It's up to you.

Should I invest my money again - 14.2>30
You have the great amount of money, and of course you can take it everywhere you want. No mistake.

Thank you for the reply.
It's a tough decision to make, getting a loan for 30 years..

Maybe the investment is a "vehicle for loading" like what Mary said. 14.2 also suggests a move too, so perhaps finding a place to rent and putting it into the investment is worthwhile here. In the long term, you may even have enough to buy a place for cash instead of a loan due to the investment- though I guess it depends on the quality of the investment (speculation vs. long-term ETFs etc).

Like you mentioned, a 30-year loan means you're kind of locked in that area for a while- unless you sell if the market goes up in that area- I have no real estate expertise so maybe someone else can comment on that aspect.

Hi eyedrian,

I know, this not an answer to your question, but...
It is of course always a good idea to ask others about their opinion and exchange insight.
What are your own ideas about the answers you received? If you let us know then we can have a conversation.
Do you really want to make far-reaching financial decisions based on what others here think your answers mean?
Their answers probably will be correct, but they are still their answers, not yours.

Well, to give you some context I almost made 500k last time I was investing, but doubted myself and sold at the wrong time for just 1k gain. Since then I've stopped investing as I felt some kind of blockage in regards to my decision-making skills, and I was consulting Iching way too often than I probably should.
I find 14.2>30 very encouraging:
-Wing: You not only have tremendous resources to work with, but you also possess the wherewithal to coordinate these assets and make them work for you. Such ingenuity will allow you to fearlessly attempt ambitious endeavors.
48 unchanging - I don't know what to think about it. On one hand, I could finally move out. On the other hand, I might get stuck like a frog that fell into a well with no hopes of climbing out for 30 years, but maybe there is some positive meaning of the well like in The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.

I find 14.2>30 very encouraging:
Hmm, I don't know if it is very encouraging, I think it is just not wrong if you do it with clarity.
Legge: The second line, dynamic, shows a large wagon with its load. In whatever direction advance is made, there will be no error.

To me hex. 48 seems to refer to the whole situation and not only your question.
There is reluctance with respect to the neighbourhood where you can buy an apartment and you have to get a 30 year loan.
The answer to this is hex. 48 the Well. The image of a wooden bucket reaching for water.
Looking at the trigrams of hex. 48 Water over Wood you are represented by wood and water represents your objective.
Wood in the position of lower trigram stands for introspection, inner dialogue, persistence, penetrating, etc.
Water in the position of upper trigram stands for unconscious, not knowing where things go, etc.

So to me hex. 48 is saying: do some soul-searching on why you want this. A 30 year loan for an apartment in a neighbourhood you do not like:unsure:.

Good luck!

definitely!

Also, as a person who almost bought a house in a neighbourhood I didn't like, I feel lucky it didn't go through and am not living there.
Also, prices keep falling almost anywhere.. wait a bit more
