Hello all. I am somewhat of a novice but have been consulting the I Ching for a while now.

I asked "Should I leave my job for something better?" and received Hex 24 turning into Hex 60. (Return - The Turning Point > (Limitation) [2nd line moving; 5th line moving]

This reading is perhaps one of the clearer ones I've ever received but any of your wisdom and insight would be greatly appreciated.

I currently work in a menial job which just about pays my bills and rent, with little else. But I am not a material person; in fact, the reason I have this job in the cafe is because it affords me flexibility to take off when I need to (I am an actor); it gives me flexibility. The people I work with are lovely. But I've done it for too long.

I am emotionally and physically drained by the work in the cafe. I am now at a turning point as my hours are being cut -- and I have a not so good rapport with new manager -- and I think I could look for other part time work (better paid) on the horizon.

Please help me. What do the moving lines mean? Is it a positive or a negative outcome? Is it telling me to make haste and move job?

Many thanks, warm wishes,
P

I think you should trust your feelings, going to a job with a grim face is no way to live.

24.2 and 24.5 return to your own path, freedom of choice, you want it and your heart wants it.

24.2 → 19.5 → 60
19.5 Try to find something less physical and more intellectual. Do a research, talk to advisors of some sort.

60 Limitation should not be too severe, find something more suitable. I think this hour-cut and a new manager is a sign to move on.

Good luck :)

I agree with Ashteroid's interpretation and would only add that the I Ching is urging you to change jobs, as that would be better for you, and you would probably earn more money, too.

To me this sounds totally different than to ashteroid and ginnie.
You mention how important flexibility is for you, and 24 is flexibility, come and go as you please.

So if you depart from flexibility (i.e. if something/lines change), you will feel restricted (60).
Of course, you will feel more rested (24.2), and you will feel better with yourself (24.5).
But a resulting 60 is not super-promising.

How about you put in a small effort, say once a week, to actually find something before you quit?
Because quitting just like that doesn't sound so great here, and the bills won't disappear.

Thank you ginnie and ashteroid for you responses; diamanda, too. I should look before I leap.

But I've learnt over the years to trust my instincts. Nice advice to look for something before I do eventually quit.

Best wishes
