Should I look for another job?

While in the past the Yi has advised me to stay in my current job, I am beginning to experience a great deal of frustration with my current position. Staff cuts have brought my team from 7 down to 3, I am now commuting long distances & am taking on a load of responsibilities that I'm not interested in professionally or personally.

I asked the Yi should I get another job. First I received 16.2.3>32, which I took to mean that things aren't going to get better, the situation has turned to stone so start looking. I asked again for confirmation and this time received 56.1.2.5>1. 56.1 seems a warning to NOT take any action, that if I 'split off from my place I grasp disaster'. Line 2 speaks of 'acquiring a young vassal'. Could this mean that budget will be found to hire a new employee? Line 6, 'completion brings praise and mandate' seems like it could be read either as 'complete the job & you will receive praise & mandate' or 'stick out the job and you will receive praise & mandate'.

Any advice/insight is very much appreciated.

When you get hex 16, timeliness is very important. Line 2 means "go." But line 3 means: "You waited too long -- sorry." In other words, if you want a new job, you've got to go for it now.

This is confirmed in your getting hex 56, which means the time when you're seeking for a new job. (Seeking, traveling, and being a job hunter are all the same thing.)

56.1 means you've become confused, as if you have no will of your own, which I take to be your state of mind right now. You are still clinging to the job that's familiar to you, wondering if you'd be better off to stay where you are.

56.2 is very auspicious for job hunters. It says you'll continue to have a place to live, and all you possess will remain perfectly safe. In addition, someone will come to help you. You'll get your references together, polish up your skills, review your job history, and so forth.

56.5 is the best line of all. It means that after suffering a small loss, you will "win praise and attain to office." "The wanderer's [job seeker's] talents are recognized and rewarded." You will be given a new position!

I don't see how any other interpretation of these lines is possible. But you've got to take action! Please keep the thread up and post what happens . . . Best of luck to you!

Thank you barbra. Yes, I am experiencing something rare in my professional life - a sense of relative security, which (perhaps predictably?) has come with a price. I have however done a couple of follow-up readings, and the message is clear: time to start putting the feelers out. My confusion is that my industry is hard hit by the recession in the States, and
I have a hard time imagining something better might be out there. Saying all that, I've sent an email this afternoon to a mentor & have another job lead to follow up this week. Thanks again.

56.5 means that despite the overall negative economic picture, you personally will find a new job at which you are recognized and rewarded. Believe it, because it's true! Congratulations on starting to put out those feelers.

thanks barbra! I've been down w flu for a few days so have been a delayed in calling the job lead I mentioned above. Today as I was brainstorming for work contacts another name came up, the potential here however seemed more ambiguous. I threw the i ching asking whether this was worth following up & received the same hexagram again -- 56.1.2.5>1. Another friendly nudge..

Isn't that amazing? You got 56.1.2.5>1 on January 19 and the same exact reading on January 27. Wow! It's quite clear what the I Ching is telling you, Aiyana. Mathematically, do you know what the chances are of getting the exact same hexagram twice? Well, I cannot tell you that myself, because I'm not a mathematician. But you know it's unusual and rare.
