Should I move to another apartment?

Haha. Simple question.. confusing answer.

You see, I really like my place that I live at but they charge WAY WAY too much. I'm trying to do some negotiating with the management to get them to offer me about $100 off of rent. So far I've knocked off about $50... I told them I would get back to them later after our last discussion.

I asked the I Ching if I should look for and decide to move to another apartment. I received #2 - Kun - Responding with changing lines alternating to #29 - Kan - Darkness.

I'm not sure if this is urging me to continue with my pursuit in a lower rent price before settling or what. Any thoughts/questions would be greatly appreciated.

The I Ching does not tell us "Yes" or "No" which makes interpreting yes or no questions confusing. It appears to me the IC is giving you a snapshot of your current situation so you can decide how to proceed.

In sum, I believe the IC is advising you to appraise the current situation very realistically. If you believe that the rent they are asking is too high, most likely they recognize this also and will not want to lose you and risk having an empty apartment. However, "utmost discretion" suggests you must be very savvy in your negotiations, perhaps not saying anything that would create resistance, but simply showing them ads for similar places that charge less - in other words, letting them know you are looking at other apartment opportunities.

29. suggests to me that if you are sure they are asking an exorbitant rent you are in a good position to negotiate a better deal where you are right now.

Yes, look for another apartment while you continue to bargain with the management, but obviously keep your intentions to leave, if they don't lower the rent, secret.

Line 2 moving in Hex 2 is an interesting line to me. I have usually gotten it when I was holding a false assumption of some kind. In fact, there was in no danger, and there was nothing really different I had to do, either.

The best things come to us of their own accord, without us having to force the issue.

I was thinking that $50 divided by 30, the number of days in a month, comes to only $1.67 a day. I don't know what country you are living in and the currency, but it does not seem like a lot of money. The landlord has already lowered the rent for you. I am wondering what you would gain by moving. Seems like a landlord who will lower the rent upon request is worth his weight in gold! Most people are not so lucky . . .
