My boss has recently left and we had a close relationship but it seems it got too close and he withdrew. We were never physical we only talked. He is currently not available but we always enjoyed each others company and Had a open friendship.I feel he is conflicted with his feelings for me. When he left he said to keep in touch but I could feel he was unsure if he wanted me to. His birthday is tomorrow and I would like to tell him happy birthday but I am not sure if it is a good idea.

I asked the Yi if he wants to hear from me and I received 38.4.6 changing to 19. Could 38 be referring to his circumstances or what is currently between us? 19 says to move forward if I understand the approach of spring correctly.

I also asked what would happen if I tel him HB tomorrow and the Yi said 46.2 changing to 15. From 46 it seems it is ok but I am not sure what 15 is really saying. I am always reserved when I talk to him since I know how he feels.

Thank you so much for helping me to interpret this reading!

It would be okay for you to send him a birthday message but only if you are sincere. There is estrangement between you currently, but a friendly message never hurt anybody.

Asking questions about what other people think or feel is tricky as you're never quite sure if the answers refers to you or to the other person, like your second question. I've learned on this forum and through experience that when only one line is changing, that's the advice you should go on. Not so much the relating hexagram. Either way, 15 is the only hexagram in the I Ching where all changing lines are positive, so I wouldn't worry. Line 2 in 46 seems like a pretty direct answer to say happy birthday - a "small offering" that will be well received.
