I'll start by mentioning I have bipolar, so I've been feeling very sad lately but recently I got a friend request on Facebook from a guy with mutual friends who's interested about my county. He also happens to have similar interests. One thing he mentioned was that he had organised charity boxing matches and I said that I would like to do something similar too and he was very encouraging with advice.

So I got quite hyped up about researching and organising for potentially creating an event but now my mood has gone down and I thought I should do a reading.

I've received hexagram 14 in the past when I did a reading during a manic depression time. I got repeating chasms changing to 14 and I thought the chasms related to my mental health.

It would seem that the I ching is saying that this project is not a good thing pursue but I don't understand why the resulting hexagram is corruption.

I would really like to know what people think of this.

I find your post a bit confusing but here's what I think you're saying :

You were excited and active setting up this event and now you're feeling a bit tired and like you're wishing you'd never got involved in the first place?

What hexagram did you cast? 14 is about as whoopee as I Ching gets!

"Repeated chasm" reads tome like an excellent image for manic-depression. Get all excited and then fall down??

I don't like using I Ching for fortune telling so my interpretation is : you have what it takes to get this event running but ask yourself if you have the stamina, the constancy, to see it through? That's a question, not a prediction.

Can you perhaps moderate your excitement so that you don't burn out?

Have no relation with harm.
Concealed or robber/bandit drums.
Corruption.

This person is trying to fool you in some manner. From great possessions to corruption.
I believe your mood is already telling you that this is not a good idea.

Stephen, the questions about energy is very much the question I was wondering. When I read line 4, I interpreted it as it saying that I would loose control of the situation and therefore be a failure. My husband thinks I have what it takes to make this event happen.

Diamanda, I had thoughts in the back of my head that something was off. I imagined him saying "that was easy" after the messenger chat but at the time I couldn't imagine what he had to gain although he did offer to help at the start. I discussed it with a colleague. When I told them that he was telling me who he knows at the local boxing that set off immediate alarm bells for my colleague (although probably because I said the referenced boxer happens to be pals with my brother). My colleague came back to me later saying "maybe the guy was just being nice". My colleague then said I should organise the event but just not involve the man.

I'm glad it's a question rather than a prediction and I think I do need to moderate my excitement. Even though I'm planning the event for 2 years time, I started to feel overwhelmed with my current work load in other spheres of life. So maybe I should look at getting that moderated too.

I decided to do a follow up reading with the question "what do i need to do to make the fight event a success?" (Without the dodgey guy being involved). I got hexagram 9.1.2.3. This hexagram feels more grounded. Logistically speaking, there are a lot of set backs and I probably do need some self cultivation.

The lines seem mostly good. I think line 1 is saying "it's a good job you're not letting that guy get involved.". Line 2 I'm not sure about because it's similar to line 1. Line 3 is confusing. The image makes me think of passing the buck. Is this a warning? I can't imagine myself doing that.

The heaxagram then changes to 20 (Seeing). So the image is of kings surveying the land and meeting people which is similar to what I'm going to do. Figure out logistics and ask the club members for their input.

So after further contemplation, I think the I ching with the lines are saying I should go back to my original path which would be all the things I was doing before but not trying press ahead with the event. Small restraint sounds like such a project needs lots of preparation but above all patience. Going with Cafe Cafeausoul interpretation of the lines provides more detail. Line 2 changes to family and the people I intend to work with are like a family. The advice is that instead of striving for goals, I should be "sharing and caring". The third line really corresponds with line 4 of the original hexagram. With the belief that by organising the event, I would be shouldering all the responsibility making sure it's running smoothly. But the message is that I cannot dominate it but what I can do is take a step back and and see how things u fold and allow it to shape me. Which then leads to hexagram 20 (seeing). If I take the advice of the 3 lines, I will gain a better perspective.
