should I stay or should I go?

Hello!:bows:

My question I asked the iching was "what will happen if I go home?"
-I received the reading: 56.1 to 21

I'm faced with a decision of relocating or staying where I am for the summer and I'm unsure how to make the decision or what to base it on, as the pros and cons seem to be pretty equal. My two options are; to move back to my home province to work on my mom's farm or stay where I am, find a job here and focus on music (I should also mention I'm going on a month vacation so getting a job is a little more complicated but still doable.) If I go home, I could make good money, be around family, learn how to grow vegetables and be there for my child hood friends child birth. I don't have a job where I'm living now but I've began working on a creative project that I otherwise (during school months) have a lot less time to dedicate towards-and might end if I chose to leave. The creative project is singing and writing music and it's my greatest passion, something I plan to pursue after school.

So I guess my question is, how can I decide where to go?
-I received 34.1.2.5 to 31

Can one of the thread members help provide some clarity for me?

Hey
The reading look pretty good for going home, Line 1 suggests a slow start line 2 that you may be feeling better about making the decision and line 5 I think means you will feel good once you are there and kind of think why was I being stubborn about the decision this place is nice. Just keep in mind the reason you have doubts is because as you said you have a passion and that can be a strong thing. I think you will have time to re-group and make plans for your next moves and come back refreshed and stronger. If you can make money there , you could prob save a bit on the farm and money gives you choices for the future

The reading is favourable for going to the farm

I am considering your readings, but first I have a question. Would it be possible for you to work on your creative project at home or do you have to stay where you are in order to do it? Would working on your mom's farm give you time to do your music too?

My first thought about 56.1 < 21 is that you need to have an M.I.T. ("Most Important Thing") instead of getting trapped in too many details. But perhaps Yi is also saying if you go home there will be too many distractions if your creative project is your "M.I.T."

My sense of 34.1.2.5 > 31 is that it may be a good time to make your creative project a priority.

Do you know the story connected to Hexagram 34?

My creative project is working with band members/other musicians on original songs and I'd be moving 40 000km away from them so in that sense I couldn't continue on with it unless they're willing to wait a few months while I'm gone. My most important thing is to focus on my music. I don't know the story connected to 34. I'm so conflicted with this choice!

Hi, the first reading 56.1 to 30 (?) counsels you to be decisive about what you want -- and to let your light and brilliance shine.
56.1 the traveler brings problems on himself because he is weak. 30 says: stay true to your inner light, perhaps your artistic vision?
Hex 34.1.2.5 says to progress without being willful or using excessive force (line 5).
what clinches your reading for me is hexagram 31: which is that of desire and mutual attraction. Follow what your heart wants you to do. Is that music? Or taking the trip to the farm?

I have been tied to a band as well, some members also dont like taking time out, maybe re-word the question, you asked what would happen with you if you went home & things would be fine. There is allot of technology that allows a band to get together from anywhere in the world. However that may cost some money you may not have. Sometimes bands are better off taking time out and they dont go stale. However some members dont want to do that. it is hard i know i see your point, I would ask something like what is the best decision for to me to make now or what do i need to know about making a decision.
Sounds like you would like to go but dont want to get kicked out of the band plus you enjoy playing, i always chose the band but it wasnt always the best choice for me in hindsight.
Maybe talk to the members and see what they would think, maybe find a way you could contribute while being away. You never know some of them might need a break as well or as much as going home would be good you might not be able to. What means the most i suppose, but i would possibly re-word the question

Best of Luck

Well that's where I'm conflicted. I want to go home because it's a simpler choice that allows me to be there for my best friend's child birth. The only thing keeping me here is that I've just started with this band and we've already made a lot of progress it seems like it could be a bad idea to get up and leave as I've searched for quite a while to meet people who get my musical vision.

Something is wrong here. Either it is 56.1 to 30 or 56.1.3 to 21. Please clarify

So I guess my question is, how can I decide where to go?

In 34zhi31 you need to decide which option comes from a genuine impulse and which one comes from a forced one (imposition, following social expectations, stubbornness, etc. )

Best wishes

Sixth Relative, Thank you for pointing out the error with 56.1. The first changing line does not sound auspicious for going home, "splits off her place and seized calamity?" Why would anyone choose that? It sound to me that you have a place in the band.

If I were going to ask another question as Steve suggests, I would ask, "What time is it for Chloemc?" Yi may answer whether it is a time to go or a time to stay.

I like Sixth Relative's suggestion that you get in touch with your genuine impulse.

Yes, I agree with Sixth Relative here:

Yes the line about the stubborn goat, that stood out to me i took that as once he arrived at his farm that feeling would subside, but now as sixth relative says thats where the question is, i agree with that, then you should make a decision based on that. Quite right the feeling of having to go home maybe the forced one.

Well, may be. May be not. :D

This answer doesnt points which option is best, only points how to decide.
It could be that staying in the band is the real impulse and going home is following familiar expectations
It could be that going home is the real impulse and staying is following the band's expectations.

It is interesting to me to consider that it is not always easy to discern the genuine impulse. Humans tend to be creatures with "many parts". One part that wants to go. Another part that wants to stay. Is one of these the "authentic" part or is the "authentic" part a third part that can facilitate the choice?

I like the work of Richard Schwartz in this regard, see http://selfleadership.org/

Anyway, when I ask the question, "What time is it for me?" I am expecting Yi to answer what course of action would put me in alignment with my Dao or the greater good. And that is why I suggested that as a question for the person who started this thread.

Yes thats what I meant as well , the decision is his but the line may help him to realize which is which, because i certainly dont know, lol
sorry i should have been clearer that was just an example i stated I should have gave both examples ,

Yes jumping mouse I focused on should he return home more than anything else intially

I should take more of my own advice but really meditating on the question should as things go give more clarity, like cooking or building preparation is everything.
