Should I write a book or not?

I'm thinking about writing a book. The subject would be self-help, reaching one's goals in life, etc. I'm a life coach.

I asked "What about writing the book?" and got 12.1.2 to 10. The reading is not very clear to me. Line 1 I could possibly see as meaning that the book would be on the level of a grass root movement. Line 2, on the other hand sounds rather negative and Hexagram 10 is not very positive either.

What do you make of it? Should I go ahead with the writing of the book or is it a lost cause?

Thanks in advance.

Getting 12.1.2> 10 does not bode well for your becoming an author. The situation is one of stagnation and miscommunications.

Thanks, ginnie. I feared it was something like that but it's good to know.

Dear flitzer,

If you hear the calling to write a book, then heed it. Give it your best shot, then trust that the Universe will recalibrate around your decision, that Gods will make your efforts good.

Yi DOES like to go off on a tangent sometime, or so it seems. Needn't put us off being human.

Best of luck.

Reading aside, and I agree with Ginnie on this, the market is absolutely saturated with self help books telling us how to reach our goals in life. At least here in the UK there are remainder shops and charity shops full of them at rock bottom prices. I think the world is a little weary of yet another book telling it how to reach goals.

Your change patterns here are yang 19, yin 33..and this strengthens my idea that your way forward is paradoxically retreating from this idea. This ties in with 12.1....it's like you'd need to see where you are in relation to the whole root system of the source of self help books which would presumably be the life coaching fraternity and it's cousins. 12.2 advises not selling yourself short. Not sure about the 10, but perhaps you might seek your goal in another way, especially in collaboration with others ? Book writing is a pretty solitary affair and 12.1 is not doing what it's doing alone. Are you in some kind of society or guild in connection with your work ? Working with them in some way maybe better than going solo ?

Having said that I think if you really feel a pull to write you should go ahead and write but remembering you aren't writing in a vacuum. You may need to research what is already there, and there is a lot out there to research.

Thank you guys for the replies and sorry to get back to you so late.

Trojina, believe it or not, one of the reasons I feel compelled to write a book is because of all the nonsense out there. I'm talking not so much about self-help books, which at worst are useless, but about the whole psychology crap that's downright destructive. I know because I inherit their bad results quite often. People who've been in therapy are extremely hard if not impossible to work with. The more years, the worst off they are. As to the psychobabble that gets published by the ton every year ("cheat on your spouse to restore balance in your marriage", "man's happiness is chemicals in the brain", "your problem is that you really want to sleep with your mother") it really drives me nuts to see people listen to that stuff and follow these quacks' bad advice.

So, this was my 2 minutes of bitching, now back to the book writing and the IC reading. I've studied the latter again and was able to read some positive meaning into it, a sort of underlying advice on how to go about it in spite of the apparent difficulties. In any case it's not like my whole future lies in the balance and I don't have illusions of grandeur either. I can continue doing what I'm doing without writing a book and that'd be just as well. Or write one and have it flop, in which case at least I'll be able to write "author" on my business card, a marketing point. Which is the second reason I want to get something published. In other words, although I would still give it my best and it would still be a time-consuming project, I'm pretty relaxed about it. I was just curious about what IC had to say about it.

Since my original casting I've done a few more the last of which is 49.2.4.5 to 11. If anyone wants to comment on that I'd be happy to hear what he has to say. Sounds rather different than the first reading but a combination of the two readings (and taking in considerations my motives as above) may shed even more light about what's in the works. BTW, the question was: Tell what I should know about writing the book, please.

Looking forward to more comments and again thanks to all who posted!

Line 5 changing says that great people change like tigers and that means that the situation is so evident that you don't even need an oracle. You want to write this book and suddenly you've got the gumption to do it! This shows a shift within you; a change of attitude toward writing. To write a book would be a revolution in your life and this is what you want.

Thanks ginnie for your input. That's more or less how it feels. Lines 2 & 4 are rather auspicious too so I think it'll work out the way I want.
