Oh yeah, 33.1 to 13 or 33.6 to 31.
Anyway, the fact is, China is becoming more of a player in the global market. Their products, which used to have a reputation for being disposable trinkets, are rivaling the quality of any other countries' output and with their cheap labor pool they are becoming a strong competitor. This certainly means China is NOT in Retreat, so I'm trying to figure out what this hexagram might mean. Maybe this is what Chris was refering to. But I still don't understand what the change line -supposedly in the first position - is refering to....

Hi Rosada,

When I first read this question I did think of China in global market\economic terms but I wondered whether that was because of all of the work I was doing at the moment - I'm a bit engrossed and everything on the TV has an economic slant for me at the moment because I'm just about to take my finals in it

The first thing that popped into my head was that China is retreating from it's old ways of a completely planned communist economy towards a more of a free market approach - trading more freely with other countires such as the US and UK.

Do you think that this could have anything to do with what the Yi is talking about? Or am I just so engrossed at the moment that this is ALL I can think about?!

Thanks for this article, Nicky. Don't you just LOVE this online encyclopedia? I think this most definitely fits our hexagram. At first I thought it was stretching things abit to say China was "Retreating" from it's former policies, but this story does point out how tricky it is to make the necessary changes without appearing to be faulting the old system and how things can not be switched over night to the new, and thus the concerns of those at the tail end of the old or the cutting edge of the new may indeed be what the IC is intentionally pointing out as the hot topic in China today.

Ok. Frank I dont know if China can get away with the sweet revenge like that if they throw everybody out. They would have to answer to the smaller countries they made friends with maybe.

As far as the hexagram I got. When I said siz at the beggining I meant that the 1st line I got was 3 tails, adding up to six so that turned the hexagram 33 into hexagram 13 in the end. Not 31. Peace.
