soul mate, hexagram 48.3.4.6

I asked I Ching if I would find a soul mate soon. I have got 48.3.4.6., which makes hexagram 6, conflict or stress. I am a beginner, so I don't know till what it will last, because I asked "soon". But anyway, hexagram 6 scares me. Can anyone explain what will follow later, I am already stressed about finding love, I am taking my time, but it very pessimistic. All the great lines in hexagram 48 are challenged, what does this mean? Is this up to me not to make them change? Or is it just an emphasis on those lines Thank you.

Hello Zumi,

No need to let any of the Hexagrams scare you or instil any foreboding at all. There is no fixed "positive" or "negative" in the hexagrams either but we can choose how to respond to the snapshot of our inner state and by implication how that connects to a fluid reality.

The background Hex is merely showing your internal conflict about meeting a partner while the moving lines in 48 are giving you specific guidance as to how you can move forward. In my view, the Yi has given you an excellent image of what's going on here.

But first, before we get into that, what's your understanding of Hexagram 48? How do you feel about this Hexagram?

Hi Topal, this hexagram is all about my love life! The third line indicates how nice and caring I am ( according to my friends), I understand it as I possess all the necessary qualities to find the right man, just like clear water of the well, but nobody drinks from it, meaning I have a hard time finding someone to appreciate me for what I am. Forth line indicates the transformation going inside of me, and it is true, I just had the end of relationship, about which I have posted here as well. I have got some precious advices from people on here. I am considering learning zazen meditation. Also I am in inner conflict with what I have been taught all my life by mother. But more I understand that though I love her and appreciate her advice, we are in different worlds, I guess all my life I wanted her approval and did what she advised, but now I clearly see that it doesn't work for me.
Sixth line is a bit confusing, I think it mean I have to be honest with myself and people around me.
So that is how I see the changing lines. Although I don't get the transformation of hexagram 48 into 6. Is this my future? Or my present? What does hexagram 6 tries to say?

Here are my thoughts just in case they might add to the picture.

As I mentioned in the last post I think the H.6 as the background Hex just represents the conflict you're feeling. H.48 is the Well, where spring waters of your spiritual energy come bubbling up within a strong vessel and out into the world to be shared with whomever you choose. If you nourished inside then you can nourish others. And it's the Well as the "vessel" I think is important here. If the Well is blocked or the waters cannot run freely then you will be unlikely to make that connection. It's also true that perhaps the time is not right yet. The Well could also be seen as your connection to the Creative Universe and whether or not that connection is healthy or restricted in some way.

Your question was: Will I find my soul mate soon?

This suggests that it depends entirely on the condition of your Well (mind/body) as to whether a soul mate will arrive and indeed if we are thinking about this concept in the correct way.

Line 3 For me, I see this line indicating that your thinking on this may not be assisting the resolution. What is it that prevents the soul mate connecting with us? Why does it always seem to take soooooo long for that person to arrive? Usually because we still need to work on ourselves so that the Well - our "vessel" - is ready to RECEIVE the water and by extension, the possibility of attracting such a mate, naturally. Line 3 shows the frustration. It indicates that there is something preventing access to full awareness on this issue. It suggests that you might need to stop focusing on this idea of a partner and let go. And more importantly nourish yourself first!

This is where line 4 comes in...

Line 4: Whenever I have received this line it indicated that the time wasn't quite right but for a very good reason. It also showed me that I was going in the right direction but the Well had an "out of order" sign for the time being. Overall, however this is good. It may mean that your inner self is undergoing repairs so that it can take a fresh new source of purified water. In other words, when you allow the vessel which contains the source of nourishment within you to be gently healed and made strong, new spiritual waters can flow again. This seems to be what you undergoing right now.

If you wait for your Well to renew the connection to your inner resource and creativity someone will respond in due course. Now is not the time. But you can be sure that this is a precious moment, the pause between something new entering your life. You may have to wait a while longer, but it will be worth the wait.

oops. I forgot line 6!

I think this shows the culmination of your letting go. You have re-connected with Creativity by allowing your own inner resources to be renewed. Not only will you then naturally attract whomever is destined to grow with you - soul mate or not at this time - you will also nourish others by just being who you are.

Meditation will be perfect for that process to come to fruition. No force is necessary.
