Was recently given a piece of wisdom: "Figure out what it is you're missing and find a way to fulfill it..."
Not entirely certain how to go about this, so I asked IC for insight into what it is I'm missing.
Response: 12.2.4.5 -->4
12 always seems a little scary and somehow "final" to me, although that could just be my previous experience with that hex and not at all pertaining to the hex's meaning in itself...
The lines here sound like even IF the hex is rather ominous, that there's hope breaking through....yet to come.....something like that...?
And my biggest memory of 4 is that this is often the IC's way of telling one that they've perhaps asked the same question too often..I'm sure there are far more possibilities to it though, as I've never asked IC this question before. It also indicated mistakes made via sheer innocence or childish ignorance?
Any insight or thoughts on this reading?
Thank you and Namaste':bows:

This actually is a very rich reading, with lots for you to study. Yi says there is an obstruction, a message not received, and that you are young and inexperienced. There is nothing at all "final" about Hexagram 12; virtually all obstructions are temporary, and even when you can't get past them right now, there are suggestions for what to do.

The individual lines refer specifically to you and your psychology and need to be understood with relation to your whole life and situation.

Could it be that you are missing the playful and wondering part of life (hex. 4)? Then the lines of 12 might tell you how to go about it.

Line 12.2: is your job or other responsibilities narrowing you down? Look into that, either into the kind of job or the way you respond to it. Throwing all you have into it, or just that part which is necessary for the job and not your inner child as well. Which might be unhappy there. This line is connected to hex.6: find the right way to fight for what you need.

12.4: you do have a mandate. Which is to live your life. Nothing should be in the way of that. Which does not mean to go about it in an egoistic way, maybe your way is the opposite of that. Up to you to figure that out. Connected with hex.20: look carefully at your life and character and make them fit together.

12.5: don't fight fights you cannot win. Know when to give in, to flow along, to accept the inevitable and find happiness in it. Connected with 35: make the best of anything you encounter in your life.

Query: "What am I missing?" Response: 12.2.4.5 --> 4

In Wilhelm/Baynes one name for Hexagram 12 is Standstill. Perhaps somewhere in your life you have reached a plateau and advance has halted. The emblem of Hexagram 12 is a clump of grass, symbolizing a social group. The clump is overturned, meaning difficulties in the group.
Code:
▄▄▄▄▄▄
▄▄▄▄▄▄
▄▄▄▄▄▄
▄▄ ▄▄
▄▄ ▄▄ stalks downward
▄▄ ▄▄

Line 2: In this difficulty, success is proportional to deportment. The great person (great by connection with heaven) achieves whatever the times.
Line 4: If there is remorse for the state of affairs, it is correctable.
Line 5: Sustaining unity will be rewarded.

Code:
▄▄▄▄▄▄
▄▄ ▄▄
▄▄ ▄▄ body of carriage
▄▄ ▄▄
▄▄▄▄▄▄
▄▄ ▄▄ thills

King Wen pictured Hexagram 4 as the carriage of an official who has returned with raw recruits, ready for bootcamp training. Thus the idea of the questioning youth who must be told how to do everything. In the line text, the idea of acquiring personnel extends to acquiring a wife. Training for yourself or for persons you influence may be the key to advancement. If you go camping this summer, prepare carefully.

Thanks for an interesting casting.

Yes, good question and great answers.

Only thing I'd add is not to think of 12 as stagnation but as things moving apart, separating. This could mean to be less attached to your past or even current world view, but to depart from the view you've held together, and approach life in a fresh, new and open way.

Thank you to all of you for your help with this one! You've given me so much to ponder and reflect with..and a vastly deeper insight into the possibilities with this IC response!
I am very grateful!!
Also just FYI, true to my chatty and pondering nature, I wrote a very long and detailed response to each of your responses here and promptly deleted the entire thing just prior to hitting "post":(:( Aren't computers great sometimes?!??!! Hehe;-P
So, suffice to say....Thank you all so very much for helping me on this!!
