My friend's son ,age 12, was recently caught stealing twice in one week. I know and like the child a lot. My friend is very worried. I asked the IC " how can I help the boy? " I received 4 UC. Any thoughts ? Perhaps it refers to the boy's youth and not understanding of consequences of stealing. One of the things he stole was a cell phone. He doesn't have one. Thanks very much.

My first thought to Un Hex 4 is He's just young and foolish...my second thought was my own story. From the age of 4 my youngest son started to steal/take things that didn't belong to him just because he wanted them.....this went on for a number of years - not often - but it did still happen. I don't recall when it stopped but it did. He's now 22 very generous with his own things but Woe Betide if anyone took/stole something of his......it would be - Off with his Head!!!

The fact that the hexagram is unchanging seems to me to be advising that if your friend wants your input you should emphasize that he is a young kid.
Although you didn't get 4.6 that line does say that rather than punishment one should find ways to prevent transgressions. Does he have ways to earn money for a cell phone? Perhaps you have some chores you could pay him to do? Also, I get the Kumon Math books from Amazon and pay my grand kids $1 a page to do the exercises. I think this is a lot but it's worth it to me to see them getting a solid math foundation.

This is great advice. I'm moving right now and have lots of chores he could do. I'll ask his father about this.I like the math exercises idea too. Thanks so much for these great suggestions.

The father suffered a financial reversal this year and couldn't afford to send him to camp. I think he misses this as well. Thanks for sharing your own experience!
