Hello, and thank you so much for creating this community.

Recently I made a resolution to make some serious changes in my life for the better. More recently, I can't shake allergy-like symtoms for way too long, so I asked the I-Ching, "what is the underlying cause of my illness?" (suspecting something psychosomatic, perhaps).

Result:

14 - Possession in Great Measure / Great Harvest (this is strange already - what kind of Abundance can there be if I am unable to focus and feel drowsy all the time?)

six in the fifth place: He whose thruth is accessible, yet dignified, has good fortune.

There are references to influencing people, which I am not trying to do at all. Also it says that insolence must be kept in bounds by dignity. May be a warning against too much ego (I have quit smoking, thus far sucessfully, and yes I kind of feel like a million bucks)

And this changes to hexagram 1, the Creative, able to maintain virtue day after day - which is actually exactly what my resolution to change my life is all about. The problem is that my allergy-like symtops cause so much brain fog and drain self-esteem that I am afraid to interpret it as a sign that I will prevail in my resolution.

Please, clarify the meaning of hexagram 14, and especially the six in the fifth place, and what kind of meaning it can have in the time of a illness.

Thank you very much!

Ditto. Asking a doctor should be the obvious way here and one of hexagram 14's ideograms also incorporates that meaning. That's interesting to me because it's one that people usually gloss over, even at times when a health question has come up - so I'd say, go see a doctor and check what's their take about it first - it could be a relatively common thing as 14.5 shows

re

thank you for your responses!

a bit early to say for sure, but I think increasing carbohydrate intake is going to restore the energy supply. I am from Kazakhstan, and I am pretty sure that I can self-diagnose better than the doctors, but my family is aware, worry not.

the interesting thing is that the hexagram implies the opposite of the condition of what appears on the surface: i suffer a lack of energy, while the hexagram implies abundance.

incidentally I feel an abudance in gratitude for what is still left of my mind! and a reminder of the fact that what God has granted, can be withdrawn. Usually I am too busy doing my hardball business stuff, but with my mind nearly incapable of concentration, I just happened to run into my grandmother and devoted the day to her service, walked her on her errands, listened to her with the patience of a loyal hound... Honestly I just didn't have the wits to do anything but listen and agree! Perhaps the abundance is something along these lines. Maybe this is something I have to revisit to achieve a lasting change for the Creative, hex. 1.

Thank you again, I will check in in a few days. I really appeciate you taking the time.

What is the underlying cause of my illness?
14.5 > 1

14.5 suggests occupational exposure through the air to a harmful substance.
