Dear all

I recently took a job abroad in a developing country. I’ve been unsure about it but have started to settle a bit and the job has been good so far and it’s an interesting/quite nice place. However, I have had anxiety since I think it will be difficult to meet someone here and settle down. I have been considering a career change to something more stable and happened to meet a dermatologist working here who is also from Europe. I asked him about healthcare careers and male nursing. He said nursing is a hard job since you have to see people in pain etc. He encouraged me to continue with my current career in this developing country; that it is sunny, can make a decent living and I can possibly get a woman from Europe to join me here. However, I’m concerned about job security here. I think it is easy for him to give me that advice since he has his own practice and secure employment whereas I will be on contracts here.

So I asked: what if i take his advice? 31.4.5>15

It looks positive at first glance although line 4 indicates wavering (my current state?!), although does say good fortune with constancy. Maybe if I concentrate on working well and with modesty/integrity I should expect that the contracts will be renewed…(!?). Not sure about line 5. In any case it would be nice to have some stability. The dermatologist did really encourage me and before meeting him I was quite pessimistic. Anyway, what do others think? I know this is a long post but it’s a really tough (midlife) phase I’m going through. Thanks for any help.

31 is the space you give to receiving advice, and here it is well received and timely I think.

It's practical advice based on real experience by the sound of it (15) so will you take it ? Well it's very much up to you.

31.4 reminds me of the practise of intention setting. That is the idea that one sets an intention for a certain outcome, points oneself in that direction with an eye on that intention....and the rest will follow by itself. It's like if you take one step to something the universe takes the next two steps for you....something like that. I have to keep reminding myself of how important intention is because I notice it works.

31.5 is a line there are many varying ideas on. I see it as one's firm central purpose. It's right inside you, as deep and immovable as your back bone.

So while 31.4 shows you wavering, yet also powerful enough to influence how things go, 31.5 suggests you do have a firm inner purpose here. 15 suggests this purpose is closely allied with your own capacities, capabilities and how they meet the requirements of the situation you are in.

I think regarding this

However, I have had anxiety since I think it will be difficult to meet someone here and settle down. I have been considering a career change to something more stable

I don't think you should worry. The cast suggests to me that if you set your intention in this direction everything else will fall into place.

Also there are times when we meet someone who gives us exactly the right advice we need to hear. I tend to think the cast reflects this. I think he gave you that advice when you were open to it (31) and I think it allies with your overall purpose in what you are doing now.

In a nutshell, it seems to me taking his advice is just naturally a good idea.

I agree with trojina, Yi tells you to just be humble and get on with your job if you like it. Then the universe will provide the necessary things.

Transitional method gives:
31.4 → 39.5 (Obstacles) → 15

Wilhelm, 39.5: In the midst of the greatest obstructions, Friends come.

Set your mind straight, keep going towards your goal and if obstacles appear on your path the friends will come to help, don't worry.
