what can i expect is very subjective question, but i think that line 4 and hexagram 23 is very negative omen...

What can I expect if I take an action?
30.1.3.4 > 23

Hexagram 30 may be seen as a net, and hexagram 23 is Splitting Apart. A net that split loses its catch. However, the Image of 23 suggests that the action is positive if there is something in it for others.

thank you pocossin,
btw, hexagram 30 is fire above fire, what connection does it have with a net?
Does hexagram 23 as a result of action (through my eyes) mean that I would find myself in a serious troubles? In hex 23 there are yin lines pushing upward, and it is sometimes translate as falling apart (alfred huang)

From Hilary's commentary on Hexagram 30: "The ancient Chinese characer for Clarity shows a flying bird, and a net to capture it. Birds are messengers; this one represents flashes of insight , the way things can light up and shine out clearly. We weave a net of concepts to grasp the message and hold its meaning in awareness. This is not passive seeing, but a meeting of outer and inner light."

I like Pocossin's comment and I am wondering, would it be more positive for what is caught to be lost through the split, or to mend the split to keep the catch? Or perhaps the split in the net is only big enough to let what is not needed pass through it but not big enough to let the one big thing one needs to catch slip out. Can the net keep the one thing you most want and let go of the rest?

While I haven't received H 23 recently, I've been meaning to ask about it.

The first time I remember receiving hexagram 23 was before an appointment I had with a holistic psychologist/spiritual teacher who employs the Yi in her work. I don't remember what I asked --- probably was just trying to get a sense of what I should discuss with her. I didn't understand how the hexagram related to my situation at the time. The teacher emphasized the following part of the text:

"The mountain rest on the earth."

Karcher: "This is a time whtn Noble One acts as the person above, using munifecence to quiet the people below.

Wilhelm: "Those above can ensure their position Only by giving generously to those below."

Wikiwing: "With generosity above creating tranquil places below"

She felt like it was time for me to teach colleagues in a certain line of work where "inferior, dark forces" have been undermining the profession for some time in a system which may be collapsing.

And so I am wondering if the action you are considering would be an act of generosity from your "Higher Self" to others, i.e., people who could benefit from the action. Reading Hilary's commentary makes me thing this "Stripping" can also be about letting our inferior inner parts erode away so that we can have a clearer connection to our "Higher Self".

She says, "The mountain is continually stripped away through erosion, and the valley below it, enriched with fertile soil, becomes a peaceful place for life and growth. This is a picture of 'stripping away' at its highest potential: as a constant, gradual, natural and painless process. Everything that is built up -- power, or achievement, or the edifice of self and identity -- must continually erode away. It leaves behind and enriched inner world, and a quiet sense of being at home here."

ok, i will analise this later...
now, question what can I expect is very subjective, it is about my perception of event, so in this casting it can mean me caught in a net and that action does not lead to nowhere-h23
h 23 as a resultant mean only-loss. Complete loss

does anybody has any experience with 23 as a resultant hexagram?

now, i try to make more subjective? will i be in any kind of danger if I take an action? h 38.2>21
I think it mean I will find myself in a situation of serious opposition and I will have to use enormous amount of energy to remove barrier to resume the normal function-h21 biting through.
21 is also about criminal process which is not good omen neither.

anyway, I think it is better to avoid any action...
