Over the past few weeks or so I have been experiencing technical problems with this site which has been and still is making posting here very difficult for me.

When I type out a reply, this site will then ask me to log in yet again so I end up losing my replies, or the server will suddenly be too busy, again preventing me from posting, or when I change to another page the connection disappears and I have to log in yet again.

As I post here regularly, the problem is unmissable and is extremely annoying as nearly everytime I forget to copy my replies and therefore end up losing them to that blackhole in etherspace.

WF already pm-ed me about this. It's not a generalised problem, maybe something with her cookies/ sessions/ connections - I need a better technical expert than I am. Not something I can solve, unfortunately. Suggestions welcome!

I haven't noticed this problem perhaps because I don't use the Clarity posting editor to compose. I copy material I want to quote to Notepad and write my response in it, adding needed BBCode. Then click the Edit or Post Reply Button and copy to the Clarity editor. Never had a problem.

Another idea. You are no longer logged in automatically when you go to Clarity. With me (using Firefox) this began about a month ago. I always start at the index page. If not logged in, there is a welcome for new people message. I then log in by clicking the Log In button. If you begin at another page you may not notice that you aren't logged in, and you cannot post without first logging in.

To WF's and pocossin's points about Firefox, I also noticed trouble navigating the site after I downloaded the latest Firefox browser a few weeks ago. Maybe worth trying another browser to see if that eases it. Also liked pocossin's suggestion of using another program to write in, then copying and pasting so you don't lose it.

I also suspect recent Firefox updates. It happens also on another forum: delays, freezes, time outs. Which really bites, because recent Windows updates have all but killed my IE8's functions, among other buggy Windows features. I've tried all sort of fixes to revert to earlier versions, but it won't let me uninstall IE8. Even the browser menu is gone.

Curious if anyone experiencing these problems is using Windows 7 OS? I've wondered if they're intentionally sending buggy updates to force the sales of Win7. That's how badly recent updates have been affecting my XP machine.

Its nothing to do with Firefox(Foxes don't cause any trouble at all ), its this site.

Now if I want to post or reply to a PM, I have to keep logging in everytime I press the submit button.

Maria, if you log in when you first come to Clarity, do you then have to log in again?

Yes, what willofox says. I'm already logged in and it asks me again.

Thanks WF and Maria. Once I am logged in I don't have to do it again but it may be because I am using an older version of Firefox.

Firefox updates automatically, so its not possible that I have an older version if I wanted one.

I have had so much trouble with updates that I have turned off the update function of Windows and deny Foxfire permission to undate when it asks. That's why I have an older version.

Is it possible to fix a problem on this site?

I flip a page and automatically get logged out.

I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to start. If I had the problem myself, I could chase after it - but I don't. And nothing was changed on the site at the time when you started having the problem. So... I'm stuck.

Could you send me a page-by-page, blow-by-blow account of exactly what happens? (Eg I log in at page x, go to page y, click button z, see login page a...) I will forward that to both Amember and Vbulletin support (I don't even know which script would be responsible) and we'll see if they can help.

Other suggestion - Google Chrome?

After I posted the above post I flipped a page and I was out again, a regular occurrence these days.

And no, I don't get this problem anywhere else.

Could it be that your connection to vBulletin is somehow being interrupted? When I have a problem I do a system restore, run CCleaner, and set the power plan to balanced.

I logged in about an hour ago, then this site logged me out all by itself, and I have just logged in again to answer your post.

A question. Does this site take ages to appear when you click on the "clarity" button? Because it does for me, earlier it took 3 go's for the page to appear.

No, Clarity usually comes up fast except when the server is overloaded. My experience: Once logged in to Clarity I stay logged in until the browser is closed. If I close the logged-in browser, then Clarity recognizes me as logged out. So it's the browser that is logged in. Also, if you are getting interference from equipment attached to your computer, this may interfer with internet access. I had endless trouble from a bad charger and didn't know the source until the charger failed.

Tom, you obviously know a whole lot more about this than I do.

Unfortunately you're going to need to go into a lot more detail to give me something to send to tech support people. Something like - I started at this url, logged in using this form, clicked this button/link, got this error message... complete information all the way. Also your operating system and browser name and version. These are the things I know for sure (from past experience) they'll want to know before they can investigate.

The only minor technical issue I currently experience is that the post/edit page hangs up awhile before it posts. Sometimes it will time out, and sometimes if I hit send more than once, I get the message saying I can't post the same message twice. So I think it's posting fine, but not informing me without a considerable delay. I don't believe this is a traffic issue because it happens at any time of day or night. It's been consistent.

I wonder if in Wf's case, there's something residual in the security system from a prior involuntary vacation, when she was abducted by aliens? ;)

Oh, there is one more thing. If I log in while viewing a page, and a private message pop-up appears, if I click to view the msg in another window, it views the msg in the window I am viewing. So when I close that window, I effectively log myself out. This has only occurred since about three weeks ago. Prior to that, the PM would open in its own window.

Now, I just checked in this moment but for the past hour or so I noticed that my "green light" has been on all the time and I wasn't even logged in.

Do we have a "ghost in the machine"?

There is something technically wrong here as I do not suffer the logged out thing anywhere else.

I use firefox all the time now, and the only problem I ever get is when I open firefox in the mornings, it is fine for about 5 minutes then it freezes for about 2 minutes, that little "timer" thing appears, then its business as usual. That happens every morning without fail. It never happens in the evening or in the night when I fly in.
