As I await test results I'm trying not to be undone by anxiety. Sometimes I think consulting Yi is as bad as googling symptoms. But I have a whole week and usually I consult Yi with hope in my heart that I will receive a comforting response. So I asked what is the source of this symptom? 18.2>52

I wonder if this is something hereditary? Something with deep roots? I read somewhere this line might suggest something difficult to change. I don't know. But if there is something I can do I want to do so it, so I ask...

What will need to be done to restore my health? 35 unchanging

Does unchanging here suggest that the situation will remain unchanged? Is there something to be done here? When I asked this question once before I received 29 unchanging. Sometimes I get that reading when I am emotionally up and down though, so I decided to ask again in case 29 was just reflecting my inner state. Now I see a pattern of two unchanging hexagrams from the same question. Does anyone have any thoughts that might shed some light?


Editing to add that I did write about this same sort of thing a year ago and that this is unfortunately a new symptom that is related to reproductive health. My own mother had issues in this area and could not have kids by the time she was just a little older than I am now. I don't recall the details of her issues or if they mirrored what I am experiencing at all.

That issue was related to reproductive health and if these symptoms are related then 18.2 would be very apt since this is the mother's corruption, your reproductive organs are your mothering parts, so to speak.

I think with this line it can be quite convoluted or hard to fathom because mother's corruption can be of many kinds, it's roots do go deep and the caution here is not to use too much constancy. It's better to let this resolve without too much force or insistence that everything is cleared up and known about. This line may be very literal, for example something inherited from your actual mother as you said or it might refer to your reproductive organs...either way gentleness in uncovering this corruption/problem is better than vigour.


I want to look at the line pathway it can give a flavour of the situation

18.2
52.2 fanyao
51.5 pair of fan yao
17.5 pair of 18.2 (that is 18.2 upside down)

Just looking at that story or theme very loosely , in 52.2 which may reflect how you feel, there is a sense of wanting to rescue and not being able to but in 51.5 things can get done and in 17.5 confidence.

I'm not saying all these are your reading it's just lines that are connected can give a sense of what it's like on this pathway, a degree of frustration...

An unchanging hexagram doesn't mean just that things won't change. 35uc often indicates opportunity, offers, solutions you can take up if you want and it's possibly not saying more than that.

Going back to the 18.2 if it is to do with your reproductive system well these are a law unto themselves aren't they, they do the most peculiar things and often no particular cause can be found.


It's hopeless to try to make diagnosis with Yi I mean you had 50.4 for that reading I linked to and there was no problem and yet 50.4 is not a great line to get.



FWIW my sense of this is they won't really know what's causing symptoms because I think 18.2, feminine quite hidden, even within your body things just working through in their own time - but the 35 makes me think perhaps they will offer you things to try which you may accept or refuse. I mean 35uc can be you're offered means to progress but you might see no point in it.

Usual disclaimer for medical questions - I don't know that's just my sense of it. I don't know if it fits but it may be comforting to remember symptoms can be hell and yet signify nothing serious.

Thank you for reminding me of that thread. I updated this post. Yes, it is directly related. This is unfortunately a physically uncomfortable new symptom related to reproductive health. My own mother had issues in this area and could not have kids by the time she was just a little older than I am now. I don't recall the details of her issues or if they mirrored what I am experiencing at all. She had already had all her children and didn't have to mourn a loss like that. I would be devastated to get that news, but my anxiety at this stage is more related to fear around things that are life-threatening. This reading doesn't seem to indicate anything about that one way or the other. And thinking about it from that angle and seeing an unchanging response is just scary. I don't know what I expect asking questions like this.

I do so appreciate your response though. It gives me some small comfort thinking about approaching things gently, which I need because I have a date tonight and really want to quell this anxiety for now and enjoy myself. I will update this thread once I know more. Wish me luck.

Sorry to hear about the possible fertility issue though I do think 18.2 is actually a very kind answer from Yi, it's really speaking to you directly. Perhaps you should ask how best to spend the coming week, what to bear in mind to help you through it or something.

For me this usually means "you can't guess" (the text says "not able to divine"). But, also here being about "mother corruption", it might be hereditary.

I've seen this repeatedly to mean "you'll very soon find out" and also "you'll swiftly have lots of back and forth communication". So I believe that something can be done quickly to restore your health.

In my experience, your inner state does not affect a cast asking about facts. 29 unchanging shows a danger which you've already been exposed to, something you know about. Regarding female health, it shows overabundance of hormones. 29 also shows an absolute need to be fully honest, so in a health matter I'd say you'd need to see a doctor and tell them all the symptoms.

So you're already doing the very best you can, by going to get tested. Finding what's wrong is the best way to find a solution. Fingers crossed for you!

diamanda, thank you for your input. I actually read this last night and am especially curious to see how 35uc will play out based on your understanding of it.

For a moment I was thinking that maybe I asked the question badly about the source of the symptom, but I suppose I could have gotten a totally different answer that maybe pointed to diet or something more obvious. It occurred to me too after reading both of your responses that it makes sense that maybe Yi is just describing the area of my body that I'm experiencing the issue with. Maybe that itself is the source and, like Trojina said, the reproductive system does peculiar things for reasons that maybe can't be pinpointed at a more granular level than that. But we will see what my doctor says. I will definitely be back with an update.
