This line is so often debated (understandably) I wanted to share a perspective I don't see confirmed as often.

A few months ago, I asked about getting my booster a bit early to be safe. I received 46.3 > 7. Initially, I interpreted this as relating to my immune system (the army) and getting the go ahead to just walk in and get the booster.

But then I sort of confused myself into thinking it meant the booster wasn't necessary or was pointless. O it was too soon. I didn’t get it.

Now, Omicron is surging and highly, highly contagious (much more contagious than Delta, the time when I initially asked the question) and we don't have a mask mandate in my state, so it's not safe for me to go in anywhere and get boosted. I'm right at the point of my vaccines waning and regret not following the 46.3 > 7 advice.

Live and learn, of course! But I wanted to mention because, for example, Stephen Karcher: "Ascending into an empty capital" Do not stop now. Have no doubts. Organize your forces and march on. I believe that was the advice but I questioned the interpretation at the time.

Now, of course, they are suggesting boosters much earlier than previously. My "early" booster would have been right on time. Also perhaps the "empty" referred to simply entering the space easily, something which has now changed later on.

The empty city may have been saying that the effectiveness of the vaccine had warn off, and the Army is reestablishing your defenses with a booster.

Yes, I agree. That's how I read it at the time, pretty much. It hadn't worn off yet but it would have strengthened.

As soon as I saw the topic of this post, the empty city, I wondered if it was a Covid question. I've never received that line to a question, but we have been seeing a lot of empty cities over the past couple of years, haven't we?

Although, to be fair, I live in a city that has never had any shut down or mitigations or even making. So, it’s not true to my situation.

Haha. No, here neither. Only a 15% reduction in mobility, the experts say, even at the very height of the lockdowns. Hopeless.
