I asked the I Ging about the future of the EURO and I got

59.4 > 6

so when I get this right it's exactly what many think: If politicians don't turn their back to the Euro the whole thing will end quite ugly.

did I read this answer correctly???

59.4 is actually quite good for the Euro, meaning that its future is a lot better. Hardships are abating. The 6 is actually a warning for the future, not to cause contention and strife over it.

oh then I was wrong .. I thought it meant that only when the states disperse/split up back to national sovereignity then there would be good luck (59.4).. and if they went on with the Euro there it would all end in trouble (6)..

I'm still learning :)

HIGHLIGHTED WHAT MADE ME THINK:

59/ Six in the fourth place means:
He DISSOLVES his bond with his group.
Supreme good fortune.
DISPERSION leads in turn to accumulation.
This is something that ordinary men do not think of.

6/ CONFLICT. You are sincere
And are being obstructed.
A cautious halt halfway brings good fortune.
GOING THORUGH TO THE END BRINGS MISFORTUNE.
It furthers one to see the great man.
It does not further one to cross the great water.

Dispersal Due to Conflict

This is a difficult question and you are asking for a future prediction, and the future is not written in stone, so there will be more than one interpretation and no solid "truth.".

H59.6 is about a dispersal due to a conflict, and solid walls and containments are being swept away. In this case, dissolving the bond with the group might mean that European unity will end, and some members will leave the union. Great effort will be made to reconstitute the union, under possible new leadership. Since it does not further one to cross the water, the euro will be confined to mainland Europe, and the great man (Germany) will probably take over and become dominant.

Just one way to interpret it....:)

I did type H59.6 above (sorry, excessive sleepiness and trying to do several things at once.) I meant to type H59>6, Dispersal Due to a Conflict.

I did not use Line 6 during the analysis. Most of my thinking was about the hexagrams, not Line 4. But Line 4 is also about the challenging of "flock mentality" and the assumption of the high ground. The high ground is a safer place to be, more secure...do you think the Euro can be made more secure by withdrawing to a high place?

The first president of the European Central Bank was Dutch. There is now a French president. The bank itself it headquartered in Frankfurt Germany, 112 meters above sea level. Still doesn't sound like high ground, but better.

However, Brussels is the capital of the European Union, and I think it is relatively near sea level.

The move to a high ground sounds like political reorganization to me.

(Why did you ask this question, anyway?)

that's why I thought too, like a political reorganisation - esp. since the road they 're travelling now seems to lead deeper and deeper into problems

I was asking cos although I live in the US and Switzerland I have a lot of relatives in the Euro zone and they are really really worried and I am worried about them and their well being

History of Currencies

The history of fiat currencies ( paper currencies with nothing backing them except governments saying they are legal tender) shows instability, almost always. In the modern world, I don't think there has been a fiat currency that has lasted 100 years.

The United States Federal Reserve Note won't last that long either.

Paper currencies are generally worth the paper they are printed on, and people periodically lose confidence in them or the government that issues them.

It is the "Tinkerbell effect".. From Wikipedia: "The Tinkerbell effect describes those things that exist only because people believe in them. The effect is named for Tinker Bell, the fairy in the play Peter Pan who is revived from near death by the belief of the audience.";)

Older Europeans have lived through this kind of turmoil before, and tend to have some of their assets in other "hard" forms, such as property, businesses and gold.
