Today the neighbor's overly-curious puppy stole into my bedroom and knocked over my bird's cage. My little parrot is now missing. I heard her earlier and am devastated to think of her outside where she can't fend for herself; we also have hawks and falcons in the area. I've done everything I know to bring her back - her cage is on the front lawn ... I even brought a cd player outside to play her favorite music.

I asked the Yi, will she come back? Answer was 35.1.2.3>14. This seems to reflect my doing all there is to be done (step by step) and that by staying positive she will return.

In a way it's rather funny but she's my pet and I feel responsible. :(

:( How awful.

I think it seems to be saying, as you have already understood, that although you are "progressing in sorrow" you will receive help and blessings from "one's grandmother" (intuition? the bird? subconscious) and that she should come back.

H14 is Possession in Great Measure; let us hope it means your bird.

Well, my lost bird is still near the homestead - she calls back to me and then zooms off again. Fingers crossed we find her in a money tree (Hex 14 outcome) ;)

Hopefully she will be lured in and not get lost in the canyons ... Her cage is on the lawn with her favorite toys and snacks in it. There are also peacocks here so if she doesn't hear my whistles, their springtime racket will give her a point a reference for home. Fingers still crossed.

hi Aiyana,
That is sad..
I have a goldfish and if I leave the door open too long,
to the house the cat nextdoor comes straight in and I find her at the goldfish
bowl!!
Only need to appear and yell "Miss Annie what are you doing"
and she runs outside!!
lol
in grace

Cockatiel remains at large

Ruthie, thanks for your comment - those pesky predators!

And foxx777 for your optimism.

Well, the bird was last sighted 3 days ago - she's been a full week in the wild. She seems to have found a new mate and they gave me a chirping loop-de-loop fly-by over the front meadow. Perhaps I've lost her to spring fever...:D

Still hoping she comes back, miss my baby bird terribly and ultimately it's very unlikely she'll survive for long in the wild. :\

Hi,

I too am curious if the bird came back, when I first started reading this I felt sad for your loss of the bird, but I immediately thought the bird most likely had spring fever and met a mate.

Its interesting how different advice can come out of each hexagram, depending on the situations. With hexagram 35 though I always sort of think sex, breading, multiplying. "Duke Kang mates the horses three times during the day" he is blessed with the horses and advances. So yes spring fever makes sense.

When looking at 14 again, in the upper trigram the sun is shining, all life. grows. In the lower trigram there is harvest of that growth, or new little. birdies? :) 14 submits to the mandate of heaven and cultivates life in a. timely manner. When I think of the bird mating, having its own little. family, flying over the meadow, sounds so nice and free. Makes my. heart feel warm, and gives me a bit of a giggle too. So what happened?

Polly gone

The trigram li is the bird or pheasant with brilliant feathers like the bright lines on either side.
The oracle bone pictographs for 35 show two birds darting towards the sun at dawn. The situation is like a sunrise inspiring birds to fly up into the light. The image also suggests arrows and quiver and mating.
Or the sun, the horizon and two plants flourishing. Advance is rapid, easy.

At the end of Wilhelm is an 8 palaces chart. Hexagrams 35 and 14 are in the heaven palace. They are the you hun and gui hun hexagrams of the palace.
You hun is wandering soul. You is absence. The body may be here but mind or spirit is elsewhere. The gui hun is returning soul. Hun is where the spirit exists. It is rising to the heavens and returning to our natural element. It is returning to the way we really desire.

First two characters seem to be plants. Dotted Smartweed or polygonum. A Chinese pun ??
A peppery plant that tastes like burning hot paper.
And common artemisia (The genus includes mugworth, wormwood, sagebrush. known for strong aromas , bitter taste.purgative. Greek Artemis is often depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows).
The character may also be sighing wind, mournful, dejected.
Second line is junzi dragon shining brilliant.
Third line is the harmonious call of the fabulous bird.
Fourth line is happiness, blessing and prosperity come together.

Aiyana seems to be missing like the bird. But anyway I came across another yilin text which reminded me of this thread.
乾之:噬嗑:堅冰黃鳥,啼哀悲愁,不見甘粒,但觀藜蒿,數驚鷙鳥,為我心憂。
Chinese text project>Jiaoshi Yilin> 1-21

I like the way the CTP describes H21 as gnaw, bite, snap at.And eat seeds, reproach, loquacious.Just like a parrot.
The first line has the yellow bird,so colourful, or golden like the oriole.I think its call also sounds like oriole.
The second line is twitter, sad, anxious.
Third, not seeing the sweet grain (or small particle).
Fourth, only seeing the Chenopodium and mugworth or Artemisia. Two plants again.Bitter herbs.
Fifth, afraid of the hawk and vulture, birds of prey.
Sixth,Makes my heart sad.

Yijing Lise also comments on 1-21 in notes on the Yilin: ''Orioles are symbols of love.Their first cries in spring are a sign for the season of love to start.''
