Hi Panther,

There was a lovely book, based upon the computer analysis of news reports, that determined what were the best prior news predictors of War:

Best: Two entities had organized, trained, equipped armies and sent them to the same small area of geography to take up opposing military positions suitable for battle.

Next best: One entity or nation or state had reports in the news of having marched an army to some place on its border with another entity and formed military positions suitable for attack.

Everything else in the news: No so good at predicting impending war.

It seemed so obvious, I found the book silly. However, since I got rid of this book I have come to find it increasingly True in a totally Absolute sort of manner.
