I have a wonderful, trouble-free, very old Altima named Pearl with 126,000 miles. all of which I've put on her. She has a new sort of tinkly noise that sounds like it's coming from the top of the engine. (No, not a tigerish growl.) I'm wondering whether I need to get Pearl into the repair shop immediately or whether I can drive around town doing errands first. My repair shop is a couple of miles down the road, and they're wonderful to the car and to me. But expensive, oh woe.

LiSe says of 10.4: "if the goal is not big enough, then it is better to be a scaredy-cat," which sounds like I should take the car to the service guy right away unless I have to go to the emergency room or make an equally important goal/trip first. (Nah, just shopping.)

And 61, inner truth, seems to be nudging me in the same direction?

Unless, oh wise ones, you have a different perspective. Thanks for your time and attention.

Be very cautious and it will be alright. Get Pearl taken care of.

Thanks, Ginnie. That works for me.

I called the garage and they said they'd look at her right away. On my way up there, Pearl had no noises and behaved like a lady. So I turned around and went to the store instead.

I'll take the car in on Monday, when a friend and I meet at the gym next to the repair garage. If any problems require Pearl being kept at the garage, friend can drive me home. I guess that's a form of "cautious" too.
