Hi people,
I was recently diagnosed with severe osteoporosis with a high risk of fracture. The perfectly programmed doctor wanted to put me right away on bisphosphonates and to promise I'd drink at least two glasses of milk a day.
Uh, not. It was hilarious or disconcerting, depending on perspective, to observe I was more up to date on the latest research about calcium and bisphosphonates than the specialist. Osteoporosis is big business, it's just like statins for cholesterol.
Anywhoo, bone density and bone quality are two very different things. And I've been spending a lot of time researching how I can boost my bone density more holistically.
I asked Yi "Tell me about my bones' strength". And Yi replied 37 UC.
I busted out laughing, because I saw it as an image of my skeleton being in fact my home, it's structure, which it is.
Doesn't tell me much about the structure's strength, but I found it "interesting" that it was 37 that came out in this reading.
Enjoy!

Hexagram 37 talks about a balance of your Yin/Yang Feminine/Masculine. It reminds of TCM strategies. I don't know what type of research your looking at but if Google search TCM for osteoporosis it/s super interesting.

Thanks, Becalm, good idea.
I had already assumed Yi was referring to balance, notably hormonal, and maybe TCM (if I can find a good practitioner around here) would be the easiest/safest route.

37 UC: each bone has their own strength for your body, some have their own function, unclear if ones are weaker than other but image in 37UC is about offering support for the family members (the organs?)

I think you can start by using vitamin D/calcium (not Iching' advice but it's something people would do anyway?)

I'm not sure about that; the literal interpretation of "People in the home" would be... well, people in the home, like your family or roommates. Interpreting 37uc to be an "image of my skeleton being in fact my home, it's structure" is pretty metaphorical. For example you didn't cast "bones in the body". That would be literal. (Of course there is no such hexagram, everything in the Yi is metaphorical.)

I have cast 37uc multiple times and each time it literally meant family members, like going to one of my parents or siblings for help with that issue I was casting about.

"Tell me about my bones' strength". And Yi replied 37 UC.
Richard Rutt's title for 37 is 'Household' and Bradford Hatcher's is 'Family Members'; Wilhelm calls it 'The Family (Clan)'. I associate 37 more with the people of (or in) the household, the family or clan members, and their actions and activities - and less with the building(s) they live in.

The hexagram statements read:
"Augury favorable for women", or "The perseverance of the woman furthers."

The trigrams here are Wind above - which is associated with the eldest daughter or sister; and Flame below, associated with the middle daughter or sister.

Putting this all together, the Yi is suggesting that you develop a familial relationship with - or attitude towards - your illness and your bones (and your body as a whole), and less of structural one; e.g. that your body and it's 'parts' are members of the family or household; they are not just the timbers and wiring.

The lower trigram Flame is associated with seeking clarity, and also with coexistence and co-dependence (in a good way; e.g. we all depend on one another): here it is suggesting connections, co-dependencies - within the 'family', within your body and mind - that led to - and might cure - your illness. I'm not a doctor, but some examples that come to mind are nutrition, or the function(ing) of your other organs and various systems that all play a part in how you develop and function.

The upper trigram Wind suggests that you should use a long-term, persistent but gentle approach (and attitude) towards your healing, as in 'The perseverance of the women (Wind, and Flame) furthers.

Best, D

Hi all,
@Topher- thankfully my Vit D and calcium are good, and I will keep it up! Whether my bones fix nutriments well (and it's not just calcium) is another story :)
@Viru10 - well there are no other people in the home and so, I took it similarly to @Dfreed, who expressed it better than I did, that all components of my body are the people in the home. And yes, I am looking at gentle options and will be very persevering in taking care of all the various parts :)
